Rear Stabilizers Won't Work!

During our recent trip our rear stabilizers quit working. I lowered them just fine with the remote but when I tried to raise them they came up about 2 inches and then stopped. I was using the remote to retract them but nothing. I tried the switches mounted on the trailer and nothing. I raised them manually fine. Later after arriving at our campground I tried them again but nothing. 3 days later when we were leaving I tired them again and they worked just fine.

Today on the way home we stopped for the night and I tried to lower them and NOTHING! Had to lower them manually. I did notice though that when they will not work a little RED Light is constantly lite on the Control Box located in the battery compartment.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions what might be wrong?

Scott

I suggest a loose connection. Check at control box and grounds.

Did you try rebooting the control box?

Ours did the same thing working intermitently. I finally disconnected the two wires at the motor and it tested bad. Extended warranty covered the repair. If I'm not mistaken just the motor was approaching 400.00!

We had a similar problem and you might glean some information from this thread.

Now that we are home I can check out the wiring better and look for loose connections.

Mike: Thanks for the link to your post. If I don't find any loose connections I will have the motor and brushes checked. I'll post what I find later.

Scott, our problem was water getting into the motor and rusting the brushes - the point where the wires entered the casing wasn't sealed properly. Good luck in you search.
