TV problem

Well got one for you guys and gals! When I have the livingroom teli on and we go up and turn on the lights in the bedroom, we either loose the signal completely or it gets the digital signal scramble. We've replaced the 12 volt bulbs with LEDs and wondering if that is causing the problem! Also if we turn on the fan in the stool room it creates the digital signal scamble! OK, what's up???

Rondo, I'm not too familiar with the electronics in the led lites but have read that they have some sort of ballast in the base. Now that was referencing a 110vac led so I may be wrong with regards to 12vdc. We had the same problem in ours a couple of years ago where the fan was scrambling our signal. Change the ends on the coax's in the entertainment center and that solved the problem. Seemed odd that the problem took about 4 years to pop up but the fix was easy. Good luck, Jim

We had a problem with the LED lights interferring with the bedroom tv in one place but haven't had that problem since. It was just the bedroom lights, the bathroom ones didn't bother it

Rondo,
Replace all the coax connectors with good connectors and that may solve the problem. The connectors have blue compression fittings that need to be pressed on. You can get the connectors and tools from Loews.

The wallet is not that big and I have a feeling that the DW would not favor that either! I'm afraid she would kill me if the new unit had any problems. She said we can get another one but it has to be trouble free and I can really see that happening!

Rondo,

We've had the LED's, which don't have ballasts, in our unit for over a year and haven't experienced that problem. However, we did experience it about 2 years ago when we thought we needed to replace the antenna power unit in the closet in the bedroom closet. What was happened was that the ground wire came loose from the unit and when we used power from other devices on the same circuit it would drop power to the antenna.

Thanks Michael and everone that have responded. I knew it could not be the LEDs! I've purchased new coax cable ends and will install them tomarrow and while I'm at it I'll check on the grounding cable connection! I'll let everyone know what I come up with!

I replaced my antenna power unit with the new Winegard ??(something) pro that has a digital readout that lets your fine tune your antenna to receive the best signal possible. Very pleased with the results.
