Electric brake setting
Just wondering what setting people are using when towing. I've been setting my TV at 7.5 when towing my 3611rl. I'm towing with a 2015 GMC 3500.

I have mine set at 7 in my 2012 f350 towing a 3800re. When I redid brakes on monte, I started out with it set at 6 for awhile to seat in shoes to new hubs. I figure higher settings are needed for the lackluster braking performance of electric brakes.

I've got mine set at 9, so the trailer BRAKES stop the trailer and the truck brakes stop the truck. It may be a bit high, but use the exhaust brake to slow down as much as possible.

I have always set mine on 6.5 to 7.5. Seems to depend on how long it has set still. Sometimes I start the day and it needs more stopping power, but in 10 minutes I set it back to 6.5.

I've had mine set at 10 with my previous truck ( 2011 F350) and been dissatisfied with the braking. New truck now and it has an adjustment in the Trailer Tow settings for low, med or high brake input. Haven't had the trailer out with this truck yet but have initially set it at medium and will adjust the gain once I hook up and take it for a drive. If that doesn't work will change the truck setting to high. Hopefully I can lower the gain and get better braking.

I set mine at 6.5. Seems to work fine with my 2955RL. Sometimes the brakes get a little "grabby" after I've driven awhile, anyone know what causes this?

I have it set at 5 but have only towed 200 miles so looks like will be moving up next time out.

On our previous 2012 F350 we set at 7.5, and on our new 2017 F350 we set at medium and 6.5 and works great. Recently while returning home from the 2017 Fall National Rally we made an emergency stop due a wreck in front of us and my settings worked good, could really feel those disc brakes holding the Montana.

I have never set my IBC higher than 4.5. I believe this is probably the most variable question/answer you will find as there are so many factors that contribute to what you set your brake controller at.

I don't go by numbers, I go by feel. I want to "feel" the trailer starting to pull against me when I brake easy to mid. mine is set on 8. Also in the new Ford I use the exhaust brake and when used properly along with Tow Haul mode it will all but bring you to a complete stop when existing the interstate.
I press the brakes mid to hard for about 3 seconds after coming off cruise, that will engage exhaust brake and start an aggressive down shifting and then I won't touch brakes again until just before stop sign at top of exit ramp because exhaust brake and the truck downshifting (not manually) has brought me to around 2-5 mph.

Same with dodge in tow haul mode. Exhaust brake is amazing. I would not tow without it.

Ours is set at 7.5. I agree with you that the exhaust brake is fantastic on the Dodge. Much better control on the long down hills in the mountains!
