Offically "On The Road"(continued)

After spending three months "camping" in a relative's driveway we are now "on the road". Left Hastings, Ontario this a.m. and are spending our first night in a KOA Campground near Gananoque, Ontario. We will be heading south and plan to be in Fort Meyers, Florida December 1st. First problem occured while setting up -- when we tried to lower the front trailer jacks one would not lower -- turns out the crank arm on the trailer jack motor sheared at the pin location -- after a call to our dealer we found out how to lower it by hand. Keystone have recommended a dealer in Syracuse who can help us out -- we will stay here for a couple of days and head to Syracuse Friday to get the jack motor repaired.

We are looking forward to meeting other MOC members on our travels -- have been following everyone's travels on the forum for a year now and we are quite excited to now be "on the road".

Bummer but at least you could still hand crank the jacks.
We bought our Montana from Meyer's in Syracuse but that's another story. I am sure they will be able to fix your jack and have you on your way in short order.
Ganaoque is a beautiful area of the 1,000 Islands. We visted the area many times and even left a few $$$ at the Charity Casino. Never thought giving to "charity" could be such a turn off. We used to live just 40 minutes away near Ogdenburg NY.

Hopefully when you get to Florida you will consider the FloridaMOC rally in Tampa during the Florida RV Supershow in January.

We will keep you updated. Will be going to a dealer in Syracuse NY Friday a.m. to have them work on it. Hoping it can be fixed quickly so we can get back on the road. We will let you know how we make out. Hope all goes well with your repairs.

Update to our problem with the front jack -- Keystone sent us to Meyers in Syracuse -- they checked out the problem, told us they would have to order part and have it brought in overnight, so we spent the night in their parking lot only to find out the next morning that they had ordered the wrong part! Contacted our dealer in Ontario who has arranged to have Keystone send the correct part to Ocean Lakes RV in Myrtle Beach. Right now we are raising and lowering by hand -- a learning experience. We are having a great time inspite of the problem. We are currently in Williamsburg at the KOA -- will be here till Nov 4th and will head to Myrtle Beach then. Since we are taking our time in may be a couple of days before we actually get there. Have seen a couple of other Montana's but no one from the MOC yet. Hope to meet up with some of you during our travels.

Les and Julie, Sorry to hear your jack problem is still not fixed. Hopefully the problem will be fixed in Myrtle Beach.
Speaking of Myrtle Beach I would also like your opinion of Ocean Lakes RV as we are considering for next spring.
AND... Hopefully while you are in Florida you could make it to the RV Supershow in January. We are working on a rally or just getting a bunch of MOCers together for a day at the Montana booth for a face to face and maybe some photos.

I have the dates for the Florida RV show marked on the calendar and we do plan on stopping by at least for a day visit -- we are in Shady Acres, Fort Meyers from Dec 1st to Jan 31st so will drive over to visit the show from there. We are looking forward to meeting other MOC members. We hope to be in Myrtle Beach later this week or early next week and will let you know about the Ocean Lakes Campground.
