Trouble lighting pilot light
Hello!
We've just had our Montana moved back to where we live after having the roof fixed (warrantee), after 6 nights of motel living. We're wanting to heat some leftover pizza, and our convection/microwave oven door latch isn't working (was broken before the rig went to the shop), so we were going to use the gas oven to reheat the pizza, but are having trouble lighting it. Has anyone got any help for this? We've noticed some air locks when we started up the fridge and the hot water heater again. If anyone is online now, we'd really appreciate a reply soon! Cold pizza is OK, but hot would be much better. ...Michael has tricked it into lighting (on full power, not pilot light), but if we turn the knob down to pilot, it goes off (and again is really hard to light. Can anyone help? It's not as serious that we get a reply as it was when we had no heat in the oven, but if anyone knows wheat we could do t make it work, that would be great!
Thanks a whole bunch!
Cheers,
Katja

The oven pilot is lit by turning the knob to "pilot" and pushing it in while lighting the pilot. Light a top burner to determine if the gas is flowing and then try.

Thanks for your reply, Stiles.
We know that we need to push the knob in, and did that, and we did light all the top burners, so we know they work. When we started the water heater and the fridge, after we got it "back home", it took them a while to start up (lots of clicking before they started). Thought maybe there's a secret to the pilot light too. Don't want to always have to trick it by turning up the heat (gas) and then light it - that could be hard on the person lighting it (my DH so far).
Thanks again,
Katja

Remember the pilot is lit with an outside source, i.e., fireplace butane wand or a long match. The click spark does not light it. It lights the same as a stick house gas oven. If you don't leave the pilot on, you will have to relight it every time you want to use the oven.

Thanks again, Stiles. We always light it with a butane BBQ lighter. We did figure out what the problem was - soot builds up on the electrode, and when it drops off (like when the 5th wheel is moved), it drops into the LP gas nozzle and can block it up. We vacuumed the nozzle, and now it works just like new!
I hope this is useful for others who might encounter this problem.
Have a great day!
Katja
