We have, but it was years ago. It was fine then, but I can't comment on their current facility. It is an amazing area, we camp there a lot but always dry camp. If you are interested in that, there are may places between Ouray and Silverton and around Silverton that you can camp.

Thanks for the reply. We have camped in Durango but nothing north of that in Colorado. This looks like a decent place. How is the highway from Durango to Ouray with the 3 passes?

I read that the road between Silverton and Ouray is not the best for towing. I also read that semi's drive up at least as far as Silverton. I was going to stay at a place in Silverton this summer but had to cancel due to problems elsewhere. I think it was rated decent and was called something about truck rentals and cabins.

Hello, we camped there the last 3 Labor Day weekends. It’s run by a friendly family and we enjoyed it. The bathrooms are very clean and there is free hot coffe throughout the day.

The road is not difficult, but it is narrow with very steep drop offs; not for the faint of heart. The grades are not bad; 3 10k+ passes. RV's and trucks on it all the time, so it is not a problem unless you are worried about heights. I used to drive it a couple times per month both winter and summer pulling SnoCats; pulled my Montana on it many times, but of course only in the summer. If heights do not bother you, go ahead; it is a beautiful drive.
Google the million dollar highway for some interesting history.

Always call the Colorado road report (303) 639-1111 and select the option for closures before going. There can be construction delays in the summer and of course it is sometimes closed in the winter.

Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks for the info. I watched a U Tube video of the drive between Durango and Ouray and the road looked good. Should be a great drive.....just slow and careful. We are really looking forward to spending time there.
