Let's see! Was that the year I was brought into this world? Nope. I had been married 6 years by that time.

I was in Hawaii, Kaneohe, with 1st Radio Battalion in '67 (66-68). A few TAD (TDY to you army/nave POGS) trips. I left in '68 for NAM. 1st 200 days were at C2 about 1 click or so South of the DMZ. My last 5 months was on Hill-55 South of DaNang.

Thank you to all those who have served, and are serving in the US Forces.

And a special thank you to all the "waiting wives," past and present, for their service. We sometimes forget all that they go through waiting for a loved one to come home. Thank you.

You are very correct Wayne, the wives go through as much as we ever did. Thank you also gals. :-)

Well, we haven't heard much from the "waiting wives" here but that year I was raising 3 kids, running a motorcycle business repairing and selling those 175 Yamaha's and many other brands and studing for an accounting degree in my spare time.

We celebrated our Tenth wedding anniversary. I was serving as the Director of Youth Work for the Texas Annual Conference of The Methodist Church (app 700 churches)and we were living in Palestine, Texas.

It was a great year to be alive, and an exciting time to be working with thoughtful and dedicated young people in the church.

Here is our staff: Boss, Adult Ministries, Youth Ministries , Childrens Ministries:

I graduated from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, and started my first year in college...which did NOT last a year! Dropped out in early 68 and did 4 in the USAF, returned to college after that.

I had a good fiend Roger Atkins who went to Viet Nam in 67, didn't come home. I was on Fort Dix at the time and couldn't go to his funeral. I thought about him thousands of times over the years. I didn't know wear he was buried. Forty years later I went to another funeral at a little country cemetery got out of my car looked down and there was Rogers picture looking at me. Hear I set with great big tears in my eyes.

We left too many young men in Viet Nam, sorry about your friend, it just breaks your heart to think of what could have been.
It was fate that you ran into his burial place, it was good you found him, I hope it brings some comfort to you.
Take care.
