automatic transmission fluid type A ATF

While doing my periodic service prior to hitting the road I noticed that the fluid reservoir for the slides (slides in) was a little more than the 1/2 inch below the top of the filler as recommended by the owners manual. I hopped in my trusty F350 and set out for the local auto parts store(s). I came home hours later without the fluid, nobody has that particular type of fluid. Can anyone tell me if it is still made?,or is there a substitute? The level is not dangerously low but I like to keep things filled up (good 1st echelon maintenance, keeps your RV out of depot maintenance), any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

MIMF will probably be around before long. Meanwhile, if I recall, he told us at the Reno Rally that any ordinary ATF, even the cheap stuff, is fine. Clear, red, whatever. And it can be mixed with what's already in there.

My slide manual says use any ATF fluid... and as I recall so did MIMF-2.

Pete,

Sorry I took so long to respond. Gail, Baxter, Austin (the grand son) and myself had a big weekend in the Challenger! Weather was good and the food was great!!

The ATF you can use is the cheapest stuff you can find at Wally-World. It is in a blue bottle and on the front it says "DexronIII/Mercon". Or you can get it anywhere you wish and it will work just fine. If it is red when you pour it into the reservoir, that will be OK. Color don't mean squat!

If you have any further questions, ask it right here. I'm going to be watching the forum again for the next several days and will respond back a little quicker if you do have more questions.

Have a good day!

Dale
