We start off on July 6 for the FCRV (family campers and Rvers) international campvention in Lewisburgh, WVa then of to Cape Hatteras for the rest of the month.Anyone out there a member of FCRV and going to the Campvention let us know and perhaps we can meet up in person rather than in Cyberspace.

Hi Sue,

First of all, good luck with the show!

2nd, well, we thought we'd just take the whole year vacation this year. And maybe next year, too, and the year after that! (Sorry, just couldn't resist!).

However, I will tell you our general plans for the year. We've been next to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee since March 28th. We leave here next Friday, 5/20. We'll be in Goshen, IN, for a bit, then will go to Independence, MO, in the Kansas City area. We'll be there until July 5th. We have kids and grandkids in that area. Plus my folks' 60th anniversary is the end of May. They live a couple of hours west of there. Then we are booked into a park near Glacier National Park for a month, then Yellowstone for a month, then over to Reno, NV, (Minden) for the rally. Then we'll probably work our way back to Independence for Nov/Dec. Then Mission, TX, for Jan/Feb next year.

By the way, this is absolutely the most pre-planning we've ever done and is not "normal" for us. But we wanted to be sure to be able to get in to the places of our choice in these busy areas.

How about you?

Steve,
I want to be you when I grow up! (Shari says that's unlikely though!) We too are looking forward to our year long vacation (retirement).

We're doing mostly short trips this year. Our two longest trips will be to Prescott AZ for the July 4th weekend and then a week and a half in October to see Monument Valley, Lake Powell, and Bryce Canyon. Already got the reservations made.

we are headding out of NC on June 1 for 69 days ... plan to spend a couple of weeks in South Dakota and to get as far west as Salt Lake City and come back home through Dallas, New Orleans, and Orlando... all in all should cover 8,000-10,000 miles

Steve, you are living the fulltimer’s dream! Oh, well, I can only dream…

Small trips for us this summer, which is exacerbated by the fact that I have to report back to school on July 22 or thereabouts. Kids start on July 28. Only one of possibly three trips planned at the moment, for the summer just another 10 day jaunt up to Unicoi SP from June 6 to 16.

We do have reservations at Calhoun Falls SP in South Carolina for Labor Day, and have some more penciled in for October and just before Thanksgiving.

Hi,
We are going to Kentucky lake for 10 dasy starting June 4th. If anyone from here will be around the area let me know maybe we can meet for a cup of joe or something. Can anyone recommend a good camp ground in the general area of the Dam? We don't care if it is on Kentucky Lake or Barkley. All we want to do this trip is have some R & R.

Bill

Bill and Shari, we, too, just take a lot of small trips, anywhere from a few days to two months. We just take a bunch of them back to back.

Wordsmith, your school starts in July? Whatever happened to starting after Labor Day and ending in late May?

Our 365 day vacation(?) began on January 1st in Largo Florida. On May 1st we finally pulled out of Largo traveling all of 3 hours to Salt Springs for 6 nights. Finally leaving Salt Springs we traveled all the way to Myrtle Beach, SC for another 4 loooonnnngg nights. Pulling out of Myrtle Beach we traveled all of 130 miles to Fayetteville NC. As a matter of fact we are at a KOA and tonight, Friday the 13th, is their annual FREE night. Will be staying here until Monday the 16th at which time we will be headed for Staunton VA and the Virginia MOC Rally. After Virginia we head for a week in southeast Penna with family before heading to Lake George and the northeast MOC rally. After Lake George we will probably head up to the 1,000 Islands and Black Lake in NY for a couple weeks. At this time we have no definite plans for the balance of summer. September will find us back in Pla-Mor and the Great Lakes MOC rally. We end this years 365 day vacation back in Florida.

You know these 365 day vacations leave very little time for anything else. Sure wish it was a leap year as I could use an extra day to rest.

We leave June 1 for Branson, Mo for a few days then on to Lake Of The Ozarks, Mo. We haven't been ther since the Honeymoon in 1964 so we may see a little change in the area.
After Mo. we head for Kansas City to visit with Dorothy and Toto.and on across Kansas , Nebraska and to Mitchell SD then on down to the Black Hills and Deadwood SD.
We leave there and go to Dubois, Wy. then on to The Grand Tetons and Jackson. From Jackson we head into Idaho up Rt 93 to LoLo Montana then down LOLO pass to Kamiah,Id to visit friends we met in Florida.
From there we follow the Columbia River Gorge to Portland Oregon to visit another couple we met in Florida.
We leave Portland go to Bend and Crater Lake then on to Reno, Nev and Lake Tahoe.
We leave there then on to San Francisco. then back to Rt99 to Mojave, Calif., Las Vegas then into Utah for the National Parks there and Monument Valley.
After that we don't have any plans except to wander back to Virginia by November to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with the kids and grand children before we head south for the winter.
We hope you all have a safe and great summer wherever you travel and hope we can meet some of you on our travels.

Steve, we still end in late May, but Labor Day is a thing of the past. I doubt we will ever see those days again. Granted my school district does have a week off in October and two in the spring. Still, it wasn’t but eleven years ago that Marsha and I were in our pop up at Vogel SP during the third week of August. Even that is the good old days of school start times now.

Some people have said that I am already on vacation since I am self-employed. The first month of our vacation following Dianna's retirement on June 1, will be used getting the stick house fully ready to sell. Sometime after that, we plan to take our first long haul fiver trip to North Carolina to see my son and his wife and five children (soon to be six). I got to tell him that he doesn't have to have another child to get us to visit.

We've already taken trips to Reno, then on to St. George, UT, and Zion and Bryce National Parks; and a long weekend in Nampa, ID. The next planned event will be the Good Sam Rally in Redmond in July, and the following week to Vernal, UT where we will volunteer with the PIT program and finally get to see Dinosaur National Monument. Then we will back track home for a couple weeks before we leave for Indiana where I have a class reunion and will visit relatives - also hope to stop by Keystone and tour the factory - haven't decided yet what routes we will take to and from Indiana. Once we're home there is nothing planned until October when we will attend the MOC rally, then the PRCA Xtreme bull riding finals in Reno, then journey south where we will probably end up at St. George, UT again and more sightseeing - maybe Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, etc., before attending the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, which completes our itinerary for this year.

Wayne and Arlene, we'll be at Campus RV Park in Independence, MO, for the entire month of June. If you have some free time while in the area, let us know and maybe we can get together. Independence is a suburb on the east side of Kansas City.

Looks like you have a terrific plan there. We just might cross paths somewhere besides KC, too.

awaywego,
We will most likely be home most of July and August so if you're passing through Bakersfield during that time give us a shout and let's see if we can hook up for lunch or dinner or something..... Our swimming pool is real nice during this time of year. :-)

Have a great trip. HamRad

Steve and Dennis,

Sounds like a great plan to me. We will give you a email when we are in your areas.
We don't make reservations or plans so we don't know exact dates for certain areas except we did make a reservaton for The Tetons because we knew that was a busy time.
Last time we stayed in Cody and made Jaskson a day trip but that is a long day trip.
Dennis we came through Bakersfield in Sept 2003 when we left Yosemite and went to Palm Springs.
We are like the couple on TV, if we see something which looks interesting we make the turn and head that way, so plans don't mean much.
Steve if you want to see Mountain Goats while in Glacier there is a salt lick east of West Glacier on Rt 2 where they come for salt. There is a path to an overlook and take you binoculars.
A beautiful drive is to take Rt. 2 west to Seattle, Wash. and make the loop to Coolee dam and catch the laser show on the dam at night. They open the flood gates and the water going over the dam is the screen for the show.
Hope everyone has a great summer and safe travels.
Hope everyone has a great summer.

We're leaving here (NW Indiana) May 17th for Billings and Great Falls, MT then over to Mt. Shasta for Memorial Day. After that we'll probaly go to San Fran and catch some of the things we missed when we were there 2 years ago. After that, back across to NV and Utah for a few weeks. We rarely use interstates but we will going to Billings because of time constraints. Last time we went west we covered almost 10,000 miles.
