We all have our priorities. Mine are that we spend most of our time inside the rig with the slides extended. So I'm mostly concerned with the layout with slides out. So long as we can get to the potty and the refrigerator with slides retracted, we're ok with that. If there's anything we could not reach, we just put it in a travel location where we can reach it. Like "picnic supplies" for stops for lunch on the road.
When we were weekenders/vacationers, when it came time to load the rig for a trip we just pulled it out and opened the slides. Not everyone has that option.
The carrying capacity numbers are very misleading. Yes, the published numbers differ between the two models. But the frame construction, etc., are the same. Our 2003 3295RK had published CC of 3,940 lbs. Before we ordered the 2007 3400RL I talked with Keystone about the difference in CC capacity. I was told if the 3295 handled it, so would the 3400RL. I don't consider this an issue so long as we are close to or within GCWR and under the axle GAWR. Not everyone would be comfortable with this, however.
Good luck with your decision. All Montana models are good ones. It is just which one is best for you. In any case, I hope you have many years of enjoyment from your Montana.
