2006 3400RL

Good Evening to All,

Does anyone have any information on the changes between the 2005 and 2006 3400RL? Specifically, the UVW was reduced by about 100#, the hitch weight is up by about 200#, and the unit is now 8" longer.

I wish I could grow a few inches taller and at the same time lose a little weight - but I don't see that in my future. What did Montana do the make these changes happen?

Try looking at the floor plans on the Keystone site. I like the 3400rl.

Rick, I don't know either but this might be a good question for Keystone customer service. If you find out would you report back? The number is (574) 535-2100. If the cust service person doesn't know, maybe they'd transfer you to someone in manufacturing management?

I printed out both floorplans and since we have the 2005 3400 thought I could tell. However, I think some of these changes happened in the late 2005s. Ours is an early 2005. It looks like they added some depth to the washer/dryer closet and to the shower. I'm not sure it is 8 inches but we have found these units are longer than the specs anyway. As far as the pin weight, they moved the television and cabinet to the end as part of the closet. This would add to the pin weight and also the 2006 came with a television in the bedroom and the 2005 did not. I don't understand the overall reduction of weight unless it is different materials somewhere. The toilet is reversed in the 2006 which made for a straighter run to the black tank but I don't think it would make 100#s. In fact that added some cabinet doors in the 2006 so it should be heavier. Take a look at the two floorplans side by side.
Happy trails...................

Hello Ed,

I have both the early 2005 brochure and the late 2005 brochure. Upon a closer inspection, I do see several differences along the lines you mentioned. And, the 2006 floorplan appears to be the same as the one in the late 2005 brochure. Apparently, the 2005 specs are for the early 2005 units, and the 2006 specs are for the late 2005 and the 2006 floorplans.

As far as getting any information out of Keystone, I have had no luck. I have called them at least 6 times and had to leave a message every time. And I have NEVER gotten a return call. I have also sent several emails through their web site. I have NEVER gotten a response.

This is the main reason I have not yet purchased a Montana. I have read words from a lot of people on this site who say their customer service is pretty good. You should try calling them. When they find out you don't yet own a Montana, they transfer you to SALES - the black hole of 5th wheeler Hell!

From this aspect, I must say I am really UNIMPRESSED with Keystone!

Rick,
Actually this is Sue not Ed that is Parrothead. Ed jusst reads, doesn't post. I have had exceptional service from Keystone as well as Dometic. I have called and I have emailed. I got responses in both cases and was sent one item next day service very well packaged.
Don't give up, be positive.
Happy trails....................

As far as the length increase, I think Keystone has finally updated that on the spec sheet. My coach is 39'10" long. So one could just say 40', now my 3400RL is a March of 2004 built, and I know they have done some changes to the late 04 and 05 models including moving the axles back and have done small changes to the slide dimensions. As far as the rest, sorry I am of no help, but I will say I like my tv cabinet in my bedroom better than the new slide out of the wall style they now use. The full width closet is of much more use in my opinion and the cabinets below the tv are great for storing blankets and sheets in.

Moving the axles back would increase the pinweight.
