Private Message
Has anyone used this private message feature that the forum now has?
What I'm wondering is, if you send one to someone on the forum and later get a reply - I'm assuming that it would be a private message returned, how would you be notified that there is a PM for you? Is there a notice posted on your screen after you log in.
Thanks for answering this question.

If you scroll to the bottom of the first page (opening screen) there is a section that says private messages. If you have a private message it will tell you and you can click on it and get the message.

Cargary, Go to your inbox there are some buttons on the right side click on preferences, then click on notify me when I get new mail or something like that. Then when some one sends you a message or a reply you will get it in your email in box.

Yes, I have received and sent private messages. An email message from the forum comes to me informing that the message has been sent. I respond by return email, not to MOC, but to the sender.

I have the same preference set to get an email. Also in the Preferences is an option for "single page" or something like that. That option puts the private message outbox on that same page so you can see if your PM has been read. An open envelope means it's been read. There's some limits on how many PM's can be in the in and outbox so I delete those that have been read and those in the inbox when I'm done with them.
Also, a PM stays in your outbox until either you or the recipient deletes it. If either deletes it, then it is removed from your outbox and their inbox. That's how it used to work anyhow. I suppose it still does.

Thanks everyone for the great information. Now I'm glad I asked the question, because each time I do, I learn something more than what I had asked for.
joe2speed, prariepoddle and steve - I appreciate the additional commments that I have now implemented and now experience how easy it is with these new tools to work with.
Thanks again to you all.
