winterizing question
Will be doing this myself this coming Sunday.how much pink stuff will I need.I have 3 gallons,do I need to pick up a couple more?Thanks for your help.

3 will usually do it...some people use a liitle more depending on how much you like to put in the traps.

May be hard to believe but my 3655FL takes just ONE gallon to winterize!
I've winterized it a half a dozen times now so feel pretty confident about the quantity of "antifreeze" required.
Have never heard of anyone using more than three gallons so as BillyRay indicated you should have enough.

Well I think we used 6 but a lot of it got dumped on the street because Mike forgot to put the anode back in the water heater and it was running all over. Ooops, live and learn. Then we dumped a bunch in the gray and black water tanks and of course the washer/dryer. My motto, make sure you have enough and if you don't feel confident put more in it won't hurt.

Melissa you should by-pass water heater. I don't put any anti-freeze in water- heater at all. I use 1 & half gal. to winterize with.

Our 3295RK used to take about 1 1/2 to 2 gallons unless I forgot to bypass the water heater. Then it would take 11 1/2 to 12.
Now it takes none!

Ours took 4.5 gal for a 3655FL with washer. Yup, I make sure the traps have enough. The washer went through the cycle pumping out the pink stuff and then I left a little in it. We also poured a gal into the fresh water tank. Kicked the tires before putting the cover on them. The batteries are stored in the garage so I can charge them once a month. Now were ready to dewinterize and head for Florida mid Feb for a couple of months. So If you see a stream of red stuff on I-95, we have been there................

Ours didn't use any antifreeze but than again we are in Florida.
Sorry guys and gals, it's just when I see the word "winterizing" I lose all control.
Be right back gotta go turn on the AC.

I just did our 3670 today and it took 2 gallons. It also took about 15-20 minutes to do it. The winterizing system used now is much easier and cleaner than using air presure to blow out your water lines.

We winterized last weekend (Glenn - stifle yourself). Took three gallons on the 3400, but we did the outside shower and ran some into the water heater, also. The winterizing system was good. Took longer to unscrew the cover and un-tie wrap the hose than it did to run the antifreeze into the faucets. Menards had antifreeze for 1.76 a gallon. Glad I got three gallons. Also took the battery out and put it in the basement on wood. All slides in, dish and antenna down, hoses drained and put away. Our dealer also suggested some of the sticky traps for mice. Put a little peanut butter in the center. We're on the edge of a field and I put one trap in the basement and one in the kitchen.

One other thing that our dealer suggested was to turn the bypass off to run just a little into the bottom of the water heater. That way there is none in any of the hoses to and from the heater. Just enough so it runs out the anode hole. One thing I should have done was stuffed a rag or something in the anode hole. I just left the anode lay inside the cover.

Well, it's 72 today here in MN so I'm not complainin'!!! LOL Then again I probably wouldn't complain anyway because I like the snow.
