Things to do? Help!

We'll be heading out Sunday working our way south. We have a few stops along the way. One stop will be in Charleston SC., we seem to be having a hard time figuring out what we want to see and do. Any suggestions would be a big help.

I do hope you are staying at the James Island County Park. It is a great place.

Take a tour of the city with one of the tour rides. It is quite a historic place.

Ride out and see the "Angel Tree," that is reportedly 1400 years old.

Tour the historic U.S.S. Yorktown, a meuseum.

Fort sumpter is also another tour.

Tour Fort Moutrie. With a good camera you can take pictures of Fort Sumpter from Fort Moutrie - use a telephoto lens.

Those are just a few that we did.

Make sure you have insect repellants. Bugs are bad in Charleston. Especially at the James Island Campground.

A nice surprise a couple of years ago for us was the Hunley exhibit. The Hunley was a Confederate submarine that that sank a Union gunboat in Charleston harbor during the Civil War, was the subject of an HBO or Showtime miniseries with Armand Assante a few years back. The boat has been salvaged and is in the museum in a tank of salt water. It is well worth the visit. The museum is in a warehouse area, but not hard to find.

Keven,
Don't know if you have a dog, but James Island County Park has an off-leash doggy park with water access. It's great.

I agree with Wayne. Especially the USS Yorktown. Years ago when our boys were in boy scouts we slept on the Yorktown for a weekend. That was fun with 30 scouts. We really enjoyed Charleston
