Finally a real trip

Finally took a long trip in our new 3600RE, we bought it in January 2006 and only took a short 2 night trip to Globe AZ about 2 hrs away before I went in for double back surgery May 17, 19th. We spent 4 days in camp Verde at the thousand trails cg it was a very nice place but a little more than I wanted to spend right now. We did go through Sedona and Camp Verde had a great time. We moved on to Flagstaff for the next 6 days we had been to the grand canyon before so we decided to take all the side trips that usually get bypassed. Went to see Wupatki and Sunset Crater Volcano National Monuments really great scenery the last volcanic eruption was in 1064 AD so we felt safe enough to wander out on the trails. The ancient lava flows looked like someone tore up every asphalt street in the world and dumped it there the cinder domes were a site to see very sparse vegetation on them till this day. The old Indian ruins in the park are really a work of art. Then on to Winslow AZ to stand on a corner (and of course visit some gift shops). Spent more time traversing through the pine forests (a request from our three dogs) which did nothing but good things for my back. So now we are back in Tucson planning our next trip before my Neurosurgeon at the VA Hospital releases me to go back to work I won’t have any vacation time for the next year or so. Weekend trips will have to suffice till I get more vacation time built up. Till our next trip all I can do is read about all your adventures so I hope to read about someplace I would like to visit in your adventures. Only bad thing to happen was when we got home it had rained a lot our gravel drive gave way as I passed the gate and put a scratch in the side of the Monty Ouch!

Thanks for sharing about your trip, Rich and Marita. It sounds like it was wonderful! Sorry about the scratch but that won't keep you from plenty of future adventures.

I hope your back woes are soon a thing of the past so you can get on with enjoying your Montana. That's a very nice model you have. Thanks for letting us know about your trip. Hang in there, one of these days you'll again be on the go.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Back surgery couldn’t stop me so a scratch won’t get me down, I’ll have to go to Walmart and find the right touch up paint. I found in one of the forums here the right bright white color to look for so that is no problem. After all the walking my back feels a lot better we hope to take off again real soon and head to Alpine a little village in the White Mountains near the Very Large Array radio telescopes in New Mexico. So we will be relaxing in cooler weather and doing a little more site seeing at least for a little while. Will have to watch the dogs a little closer as there are a lot of bears and wolves in the area.

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip! Hope you can get to see alot more before going back to work. And now I can say I know someone who was "standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona" What a cool thing to do!!!! Safe travels.

Hang in there, before you know it you'll have that baby back on the road enjoying every minute of it. Hope your back continues to heal and has you up to yourself again soon.

There is nothing better then to take Monty on the road. Sorry for the little mishap get this to fix and do not look back. As I see you are living in a beautiful part of the country where you can take many exciting trips. It is my dream to visit that part sometime.

Good luck.
