Gee, there's bound to be someone unhappy. But there must not be very many. Otherwise Montana wouldn't keep on being the number one seller in North America as they have been each of the past five years.

And, oh, we bought our first Montana in January 2001, our second in July 2002, and take delivery on our third later this month. I guess it would be fair to say we're very happy Montana owners.

Oh, maybe that was a troll?

On my first trip, two cabinet doors fell off in two days of travelling. Yes, I think the holes were probably drilled with a drill bit that was too large. Three toothpicks and some wood glue in each door hinge hole and everything was fixed.

I am still happy with my purchase of the Montana, even though there was a worker who didn't know how to size a drill bit for a screw hole.

WACOT..Your issues were corrected ,,Right or not..And Gungho. I can agree on shoddy workmanship..Mine was near perfect yours was shoddy.. does not make sense..If there was a RV manufacturer in the Montana price range that had no shoddy workmanship at all I would own that RV. Checkout RV net..all brands..all price ranges same problems..Poor workmanship is industry wide...not fair to single out Montana..The reason I complain about what I perceive as poor wokmanship on the Montana is because I own one..am not concerned about the others..

We've had a couple minor issues with our 2006 2955Rl but have fixed most myself and have kept a list of a few others to have covered under warranty. Still, by far, the best RV I've ever owned, hands down!!

So far mine has been GREAT! No hinge problem, no leak problems, no toilet problems, no slide problems, etc. Stove was installed unlevel, front to back (of the stove), but easy fix. ( I was motivated to fix this - wife said she wouldn't cook until fixed. Eatin large, now).

I believe that keeping the right frame of mind is what makes the difference. Even though we are living full time in our Montana. I keep reminding my self that it is a camper and therefore, it has to be approached as one. Not as a $250K newly constructed home. This helps me when I find something that isn't exactly right. I just fix it (or get it fixed). No sense complaining... the wife doesn't pay attention to that anyway...

Dave,
Sounds like you have got it all figured out!!! You are going to find that life is to short, and it is truly a blessing to be able to "own" a rv.

No matter what brand one has decided on buying, they are all going to have some sort of problems. Remember these things are bouncing down the road, they are not going to hold up like a solid stick built house that never moves. Now I can say that up until this early summer, my coach has not had 1 bit of trouble, zip...zilch...nada...nothing. My bedroom slide has now produced a "shuddering" sound that has no turned into a "rocking" motion as the slide travels in or out. I took it to the dealership to have corrected, they adjusted and lubed things and sent me on my way. The problem has gotten worse and still has not been corrected. Being frustrated with this, I figured I would just trade the coach off for another brand of better quality. After looking at many new rv's I made a decision. "You just dont throw a life away cause it's banged up a bit." My 3400RL is going on its 3rd year now, w/ extensive use during the months of April - October as a lake cabin. This is the FIRST problem with my Montana. I got in touch with Dale and have set up a date to bring it to Lippert before the rally and have it corrected. Point of the story is, all rv's are going to have problems, your attitude determines the course of action and the outcome to the problem.

We have been very fortunate as we not had a single issue with either the 03' 315rl or our 1yr. old 3400rl. We recently completed a very hot, bumpy, 4000 mi trip. I truly expected to find something broked or loose when we would stop for the day, but nothing. Would recommend a Montana to anyone shopping for a new RV.

Montana,

Just for the record, my stick house does NOT move down the road being bumped and bruised and I've had my fair share of problems with that too!

Dave,
I would be very interested in what they find with the rocking of your bedroom slide, mine has been doing this for some time. When I put the slide in the wheels come up off the floor for about six inches and then settles down and comes in fine.

Parrothead. My mistake for expressing my opinion! My personal feelings about MY rv have nothing to do with being a member of the site.

A opinion is just that..a opinion..one persons view of something usually based on their experience.Gungoho stated that the Montana was the worst Rv he has ever owned..and for him that is a accurate statement.. In my experience and in my opinion the worst Rv I have ever owned was a entirely different manufacturer and brand. To this point I would have to say that the Fleetwood Terry 29R is the best RV I have ever owned but The Keystone Montana 3400rl is catching up fast.

I'll bet there are some Prevost owners that will categorically tell you that this is the worst rig they've ever owned...

Reminds me that I read on a forum somewhere once that someone saw a Prevost motorcoach going down the road with the word "LEMON" painted on the back to show the owner's disatisfaction with his "camper" manufacturer.

Dave,
I know 2 Prevost owners that are 100% unhappy with their purchase. They both bought from a Conversion company who no longer is converting in that catagory. Funny how things seem to be the same even if you spent $45,000. on a Montana or $1,300,000. on a Prevost conversion. It all comes back down to the builder. I have to say the top 3 Prevost converters are Marathon, Featherlite, and Hemphill Brothers. Trying to save a few bucks on a coach because the builder is no longer building them does not make much sense to me. This is another reason I have been very happy with my Montana. As we have witnessed, Keystone has stepped up to the plate on more than one occasion in the past to fix their products.

That may have been me that made the post about the Prevost..It was here in town and the entire rear of the coach was a huge lemon with the words "A lemon from Prevost" under the lemon. It did not live to far from me and I note it has been gone for a while.
