Hose Removal...
Hi everyone,
Got a question, we bought a 2008 Montana, and it has a Blue hose connected in the outside compartment and I was wondering how to disconnect it. I've never seen a fitting like the one on it. Its not a regular on / off hose fitting, nor is it a compression fitting. So I'm kinda perplexed will try to get a pic of it this weekend. Thanks

Its a quick disconnect fitting. You have to pull the outside ring towards you while you pull on the hose.

On ours, you have to PUSH the outside ring on the brass connector AWAY from you and pull on the connector on the blue hose very hard, all at the same time, to disconnect.
To connect the blue hose, I do the same thing, push the brass ring away while inserting the hose connector, then pull the brass ring to make sure it latches.

Mine is also a push ring. And sometimes VERY hard to get it to disconnect. A little lube on the fitting once you initially get it off helps.

Go to the hardware store and get a small tube of plumbers faucet lube. When you get the fitting apart, put a small amount of the lube on the male part. The lube is not toxic, and it will help prevent corrosion in the fitting so it can be removed when needed. You may also find it comes apart easier if you have the water to the rig turned off.

Ours is the same way but we never take it off. Don't see the need to do so.

That blue hose is the outside shower hose connection. I seldom connect mine but carry the hose in the basement just incase I do.

IF you ever get the quick coupling apart with pressure still on the line, you will not be able to re-couple the hose to it. The plunger inside of the female section will have too much pressure to release. The easiest way to release the pressure is to make sure both H & C sides are turned off and take a Phillips screwdriver and place it down into the female coupling, hold the screwdriver firmly with one hand and then hit the top of the driver with the palm of your free hand. It takes a pretty good lick sometimes, but this will release the pressure so the coupling can be used again. OR, another way is to take a wrench and loosen the female coupler from the faucet to release the pressure. The screwdriver is much faster.
