Honda 2200 generator run a Monty (2018 3950BR) AC unit?

I've posted several times about generators over the months, so sorry about that, but I'm about to buy this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Honda-2200-Wa...dp/B079YF1HF6/

Some of the comments say it will start and operate a 15k BTU A/C unit in a trailer. Does anyone know if it will operate a Montana one?

Thanks

I like you have read that some people say it can start a 15K A/C and some say otherwise. Honda says it won't but who are they to say. You know you can buy Two Predator 2K genius and the parallel cable at HF and they will start and run your 15K A/C and you will spend the same $$.
I bought the Predator 3500 Generator and it will start and run either of my A/C units, both 15K. It is big and clunky like the Honda 3000 and hard to store and move around. I wish now in retrospect I would have bought the two smaller predators simply for ease of use.
IMHO.

We use two Honda's with ours, because you will want to use some other electricity and the converter will want to charge the batteries.

A Dometic 15,000 BTU A/C has a rating of 13.2 amps for the compressor and 2.7 amps for the fan, total 15.9 amps. The Honda 2200 watt generator is rated 1800 watts continuous, and the A/C at 15.9 amps is 1,908 watts, which is way more than a single 2200 watt generator can handle. A 2,000 watt Honda is only rated 1600 watts continuous, but two of them paralleled is rated 3200 watts which is the better way to go, and of course, two 2200 watt units will be rated 3600 watts. And, it doesn't matter if one of these is on a Montana or some other brand trailer.

Another thing to remember is when it gets REAL hot out like here in AZ, the roof gets hotter even. I have Progressive EMS and when I start the A/C it settles in at around 14-15 amps. Then as the compressor etc heats up it works its way up to around 17 amp. Also the startup amps are higher for a few seconds too.

Check out Micro Air Easy Start. It reduces the startup current to allow the smaller generator to start and run your 15k AC unit. I am not affiliated in any way with Micro Air. I am a customer and happy with the product.

That Honda is top of the line, nice choice. Using it for that A/C is like using a 3/4 ton truck to do a 1 tons job. Bump up to a 3500 or pair a couple 2200's.

2 HF predators running in parallel work great for me. they live in the back of my truck under a folding tuneau cover that locks. runs everything with power to spare.

One Honda 2200 might work depending on ambient air temps. You would have to shut off all other draws, such as converter/charger. i opted for the HF Predator 3500. i can still charge my batteries and run other things at the same time as AC. i have read good reviews about the Micro Air soft start.

How many hours do you have on them, my son was thinking of getting one. I have seen some pretty good reviews on them.

I’d have to look at buying two of the Honda 2000s or if $$$ is an issue look at the HF Predator 2000 units.. you could buy two of those for the cost of the 2200 Honda unit...

One 2200 generator is gonna be runn8ng the guts out of the gen trying to start and run that 1500 AC... even with a hard start mod... you will have zero overhead left on reserve amp capacity..

I own two Honda 2000s and run one 1500 AC when boondocking. My generators are not running wide open and we have amps left to run TV, etc...

A 3500 watt unit would also work but it’s heavy.

We have 2 Predator 3500 with parallel kit, runs our 3811MS just like on shore power. They are very quite, start easy and just like everything about them.

I am sure starting to see a lot of happy customers with the Predator generators. I know the Honda's are very popular. I have had the Honda 2000 for several years, been great, but as much as I need a generator, the Predator will be next if needed .

One has just over 120 and the other just about 30. I tried one for a while just to make sure it wouldn’t die on me and still runs great so I bought the other one and 2 parallel kits one as a back up. Love them. Locked up in the back of my truck out of the elements. Highly recommend

My Predator 3500 only has about 30 hours on it. It is every bit as quiet as my Honda 2000. I like the extra weight because it discourages theft.

How long do the smaller predators run on one tank of fuel. I know it depends on load, but I'm just talking average. I'm wanting an inverter generator for backup and am trying to decide about a big one or two small ones.

The reason I ask this is I used my Parents Honda 2000 and it ran out of fuel around 7 hours running just my Furnace and a battery charger (Granted the furnace was going full all night and most of the day.)

I just ordered the Renogy 400 Watt solar system, and will be installing that with a Aims 2000 watt inverter with the transfer switch tied into the outlet breaker. I'm hoping with this I won't need a generator for most trips, but if we hit the heat I want A/C.

I like that small size and I'd rather go the 2 small ones as I think I can build a rack to store one in my front compartment (to pull out for use) to have as a backup, but I don't want to have to fill them with fuel constantly in the summer for A/C here in the damn heat.

I use one of these when needing power from two Hondas for long periods and don't want to be worried about running out of gas. I have one also for using a single generator from the six gallon tank. https://www.amazon.com/IPI-Industrie.../dp/B003BURT3C

Generator option

I’ve been looking for a new generator. I had a Champion generator with my last RV but sold it with the unit. I wanted at least 4000 watts starting starting power but didn’t want to buy a Honda since it didn’t have remote starting and was pricey. I’ve been looking for several months and many had some of the features I was looking for but not all. Fianally I found one. The Westinghouse Igen4500DF. It is a dual fuel (gas or propane) and has a remote control start feature. It produces 4500 watts startup and 3700 watts continuous on gas and 4050 watts startup and 3330 watts continuous on propane. I plan on mounting it on the rear rack on our 293RK with a propane fuel line teed off of the camper. I’m hoping this unit will have enough power for the unit with maybe the exception of running the ac and the microwave at the same time but I can manage that. Most of the reviews on the unit are pretty good but I know it’s not a Honda but I’m hoping it will give good service. Has anyone had any experience running a similar setup or experience with this unit?

The price of a MicroAir Easy Start is about 25% of the price of an additional generator. The AC running amps are well within the specs of a single Honda 2k. Just FYI
