Welcome to the forum! We went to Alaska last year with a Dodge dually, pulling a 37' Montana 3380RL and we had trouble at a couple of sites, but just moved on down the road and stayed somewhere else. You should do fine. We encountered steeper grades in the lower 48 than you find on the main roads in Alaska. It's a great trip. You'll probably see some other forum folks up there.
By the way, we moved to Bellevue right after we were married 43 years ago and started our family there.

Don't know if you will have trouble but if you do, then I will also. We are headed to Alaska this year and are pulling more trailer with much older truck than you. After reading here for about a year now, I'm convinced we are OK. We hope to be in Dawson Creek around the first week of June and then spend June, July and August in Alaska. Maybe we'll see you.

I have plans to leave the first week of June from Blairsville, Ga. We will be pulling our 3670RL and a friend is pulling a 2955RL. Don't know when we will be in Alaska, we have alot to cover in between. Just stay in touch, we might cross paths somewhere.

We also plan on being in Dawson Creek the first week of June. We will be pulling our 3475rl. We are glad Alaska is so big so we can fit 39 + feet somewhere. We hope to see some of you along the way.

We only lived in Bellevue for two years in 1963-1965 before the Air Force sent us to Taiwan. We lived on the high end of Jefferson St, high as in hilly.
I'm green with envy hearing about your trips to Alaska. I know what wonder you have in store for you. When you're in Dawson Creek, be sure to have your picture taken under the arch. It's a tradition.

If Judy is GREEN with Envy, I must really be in trouble. We followed Judy and Glen's trip last year and said for sure I am going within two years. Now to see all of you going this year I am really going to be going crazy by the end of the year. I hope you all have a wonderful time and keep the rest of us posted. Hopefully in 2007 we will be able to get enough time off to drive up there. Can a person really enjoy enough of Alaska by taking 6 weeks to drive it and see some of the sites?

Ron, you might consider driving up and floating back. The Inside Passage would be beautiful and save you some driving time. It would give you some time to relax after a tough drive up there. If you have time it's great to drive both ways on different routes because the scenery is so different. I'd say take what time you have and make it work.

We plan on leaving Wichita,KS around June 12th for Alaska and will be there thru August. We will have our laptop and check this forum. Will be pulling our 3295RK and a small enclosed motorcycle trailer. Does one need to take along extra tires (besides the ones that come with the trailer and TV)? Also, will I need waders to fish and if so what kind (insulated, chest, etc)?

We didn't need any extra tires. Most of those reports come from the time when the road was much less modern than it is now. The secret is to slow down. Almost all the frost heaves are marked and when they're marked, respect them. They will give you a jolt if you're traveling too fast. The trip isn't any different than traveling on the roads in the USA. They all vary and are usually not four lanes, but they're well cared for and some of the roads will be repaired by the time you arrive.

Would advise if you can tow that extra trailer on the full route you plan. Some states and BC Canada may not allow that. Here in Wa. it is a no no.

We'll be leaving Washburn on June 13 with DW's mother(78 yro). We wanted to take the MIL on a trip and I gave her a number of possibilities including DC and AK. She choose AK. Hope to get to Calgary area in 3 days and then spend a week in Banff. Then on to North Pole, travel time unk, with plans to spend a week there. We then plan to go to Scagway with a week there. Then we will start working our way back with estimated arrival in Nekoosa, WI for a camporee with DW's siblings on July 21. Above times are not set in stone, but just general plan. Have a safe trip North everybody.

We are on the road at this time. We are in Arkansas, Bull Shoals Lake and White River. Beautiful scenery and good trout fishing. We are leaving tomorrow, heading through Springfield Missouri heading toward Denver on to Montana heading to Alaska. Maybe I will see you on the road.

We are in Colorado, heading for Rocky Mountain Nat. Park. We will stay for a few days. I have never been here. I am looking forward to checking this area out. I need to go trout fishing. Anyone know about Boyd Lake State Park?

Good luck to all of you traveling this summer to AK. We miss home in Fairbanks, but will continue to travel "Outside"(the lower 48). Take your time, pull over if you start to get a parade behind you and believe all the road signs when they say rough road! And don't forget your MILEPOST!!!!

We are stranded in Whitehorse waiting for our mail. Not a bad place to be stranded though. Looks like we will have to be here at least til Monday.

Helen, You're right about "good place to be stranded." Stayed at Hi Country RV there twice last summer. Try Yukon Rib and Salmon BBQ downtown! Wal-Mart, Starbucks, etc. Have fun and a safe journey. Watch for those frost heaves. Hope the road after Haines Jct. has been improved?!!!
