Awning issue

2019 High Country 330RL
Solera awning. Hail damage to original awning so fabric replacement. Solera fabric replacement was not as good as original, no stitch edge and felt thinner when received by rv shop doing the repairs.

They suggested Carefree as substitute. I believe 13 oz. It felt nice and has stitched edges.

So after install one side of lower awning arm (the one you adjust when out) would not come out straight and would not hold positions when adjusted.
Rv guys say replace strut. Did both struts. Now both arms bend when out and do not hold an adjusted position. Rv guy says it’s because the fabric is heavier. I’m not buying it, it feels same as original.

There is also a straining sound on the door side arms when retracting.

Any input is helpful
