Actual measurements
Well, I seem to have found some additional, less than clear info on the length of these trailers. The most Salesmen are either uninformed, resistant to tell the truth or incapable of telling the truth, whichever one. It's really kind of disgusting.
Are the specs on the Keystone website accurate? Are they back of ladder to front of pin box or just the coach itself. Some I'm told are the INSIDE dimensions....
I was also told by one dealer the warranty on a 5 month old trailer doesn't transfer if sold to another party, a quick visit to the website debunked that story. Another dealer said warranties absolutely do transfer on Keystone products reinforcing the website info, Kudos to TACOMA RV for being an exception! Anyway, I would like to find out how much windage to give the measurement info on these trailers.
Sorry for the mini rant..
Thanks
Mark

I can't swear to it however I heard somewhere the measurements were from back of ladder to center of fifth wheel pin. Maybe someone else can give more info. I would like to know for sure also.

I have no idea how Keystone really measures their units for the brochure specs and from previous threads there does not seem to be a standard of measure for 5th wheels.
The brochure for our 3610 says 37 foot 11 inches but as I recall when we measured from pin box to ladder back it was 39 foot 8 inches or something close to that.

Tacoma RV is a great dealership and I have bought 3 Monty's there But every time I go there I give them Guff on there ads, if the ad says 3402RL they say it is 34 fter if it is a 3735MK it is a 37fter etc... I do not know why they keep doing that after all these years but anyway I always measure mine myself from the front of the cap to the back ladder and it always turns out a little different than what Keystone says on their website but pretty close (enough)if i did not measure to the ladder it might be pretty right on

I was told, perhaps incorrectly that it was the length of rubber roof. No to king pin?

On the Keystone/Montana web site specs page it states the "Length is defined as the distance from the centerline of the hitch pin/coupler to rear bumper of the trailer." So I assume that posted length does not include the ladder.

When I called the factory, I explained that I couldn't find any two spots on the trailer that measured 29' (2955RL). The person on the other end of the line explained that the measurement was of the frame used to build the 5er, and that the actual unit would be longer. Mine is 33', FWIW. Front to back.

Many times talking to other Montana folks at the campgrounds they think the model number is the length of their RV but it means nothing just a model number,if that were true my old 3402rl would only be 34ft when in fact it was over 39ft

Most RV sales people don't know their products, and some don't even RV. I have purchased two Montanas from Tacoma RV and they are a good dealership but they too have some sales people that don't fully know the product line they are trying to sell. I also had a salesman tell be that our first Montana 3400RL was 34'.

Maybe someone at the Florida RV Show that is going on in Tampa this week can find out the answer to this question. There are some of the experts from Goshen down there presently and the MOC group is meeting tomorrow at 2 PM for the annual gathering of MOC members at the Show and to have their pictures taken there. I know we have 2013 3582RL and it is suppose to be 39'3" and we measured it at the Fall Rally and it actually is about 40' give or take an inch from the point of the hitch to the back of the ladder on the rear of the unit so take it from there! Hopefully, we'll see what the honchos from Goshen have to say and someone can post it here tomorrow night!

I have the leaky brain syndrom, but, I did ask this question at the Fall Rally a couple of years ago.
The response as, I remember it:
We measure the units from the center of the pin to the back of the bumper.
I pointed out that I had to park ALL of the rig including the ladder and the full nose cone in a campsite.
I think we were told it is one of the industry standards, how to measure??

That's a great idea Rondo. There is mentioned above that Keystone in their brochure states that they measure from the hitch pin to the bumper of the trailer.
But two things here if one orders the legacy package with the molded fiberglass back what I would describe as the bumper protrudes out further than a Montana with the flat back. Also from one year to the next in many of the previous brochures Keystone/Montana has changed the stated length in the brochure even though it's exactly the same model from year to year.
So as usual I wonder if Keystone/Montana can't make up their mind.

Thanks for clarifying Rondo. Any truth to the square footage in the model number?

I measured my old unit and it matched up to the specs of the grand design website. That measurement was from number to pin.
Whe it gets nicer here I'll measure up my 3950. Book says its 40 '3" I believe
