New Memeber from NH

Hello all,
My wife and Kim and Dennis are seasoned 5th. Wheel RV campers and are looking to trade our Open Range bunkhouse in for a Montana front living room model. The Grandkids are getting older have out grown the bunk house and are doing the teenage thing now so now it's time to get a camper for us, something a little more comfy. I hope to pick your brains to find out what's good and what's not. I understand the RV industry is more concerned with making money than producing a quality product so when we purchase our new camper not only do I have to look for a good camper I also have to find a good dealer. Look forward to talking to you all.

Welcome, we have the 3731FL and we really like it.
This is our first camper and we spent a lot of time looking. We found this was the best suited to our lifestyle. The back bedroom and 2nd door were the selling point for us.
The only thing we found that is with the dining room slide we loose a lot of sitting room outside under the awning.
But if you pay attention to how you park in relation to afternoon sun these beasts make great shade!
Enjoy your new rig !

Welcome. Certainly worth researching the Montana brand. Ours have served us well.

Hello again I'm curious to find out how everyone's campers are treating them. I've been on the internet looking for reviews on many different campers and Thor which owns Keystone and many other brands does not have a good track record, from what I have read from reviews. 1 ouT of 10 gives a positive review from what I have read so far on this forum most people love there's Montana's and have a very favorable review of there camper. I would like some response from the folks on this forum about the good and bad. I am very interested in purcahasing a Montana, I haven't decided if I want the living room in front or the eleveated living area in the rear, what say you ?
and Thank You

Remember that this forum provides a means to address problems. You will find a concentration of issues and solutions here. As a whole I don’t think it is a fair representation of satisfies vs unsatisfies owners. However from attending several rallies over the past couple of years it is my opinion that there are a lot of happy owners out there. We would fall into that category as well.

As I posted in my welcome our Montana fivers have served us well. Our 2002. 2005. and 2010 never went to a dealer and had no warranty issues. Our 2015 had some issues, primarily appliance and vendor, and our Dealer and Keystone replaced/fixed under warranty and we were more than happy with their support and responsiveness. While a bit frustrated at the start with the 2015 all turned out well. Pulling out Monday for our 13th six month snowbird season in Florida, and everything in the unit is working 100%.

The reason we went with the front living was the back door. Close to the bedroom, wife had thoughts of fire.
Happy Wife Happy Life !!

Guess what I've seen so far is the fresh water tank is an issue and has been for a while and Keystone has chose to ignore it. But Keystone is not the only one, the reason why I am looking at a Montana is because of my Open Range. We purchased this camper brand new it was our first RV and we bought it for the Grandkids, it's a bunk house and we love the set up. But we hadn't had the camper three months and it was taken back to the factory because of severe Delamanation of the sides and a host of issues. To Open Ranges credit they did take it back but instead of tearing the sides apart, there story not mine, they should have given me a new camper. So because of this and many other issues we are looking at other models. The RV industry as a whole is reaping the awards of campers flying off the lot and they can't keep up with the demand and there lays the problem of quality control, there is none and the RV industry answers to no one, not the Gov. no one, no third party watch dog to make sure they are turning out safe RV 's to roll down the road.

Hello and welcome to the forum from Kansas. We are from Litchfield. We are on our 3rd Montana. We strayed in between and never again. We love our master suite unit. Have fun looking at all the floor plans!

Montana,

Montana is a good product if you end up with a good one[ I went for a gently used one and have had nothing but good times in it.Been across the USA and Canada in it with no trouble at all . Good preventive maintenance is the secret to haveing a good rv.QUOTE=drayhazel;1121267]Hello all,

Greetings from Texas, welcome to the forum.t h is is a great place to solve a lot of issues.we have a 2014 3582 and love it, although we've had our share of issues, roof, living room slide.bedroom slide , and all of the holding tanks leaking, no problems.IRving is not for the light hearted, they all have issues, after 1 yr Montana will, no longer know you, strongly recommend extended warranty. Enjoy your search, and your new rig. Mike****

Welcome to the forum. We have the 3731 just over a year now and we love the layout. That huge living room is great for entertaining family and friends. Some say it's a bit short on basement storage but is enough for us. RV Travel recently did a survey on Montana and I don't recall the exact figures, but a clear majority were satisfied.
Having said that, be prepared to make many quality "tweaks" as the factory is pumping these out at record levels, so some quality has been compromised. Since my dealer is only mediocre and slow I fix the simple things myself and save warranty work for the bigger stuff. Waiting for the new microwave, yup, STB'd in less then a year. Also all plumbing froze up last winter due to missing insulation in basement. Record sales vs. Quality seems to be industry wide though. If I were doing it over again I would likely look for a 3 or 4 year old unit. Residential fridge was a big factor for us and why we went new.

Welcome to the Montana forum. Previous to our Montana we owned the same brand as you do. I have never ever been so happy to get rid of those cable slides. The quality of the Montana is so much better and recommend you go with the Montana Legacy Edition Package in whichever model you choose.
