brake noise
I heard a clicking noise coming from one of my streetside wheels, when applying the brakes. I could only hear it when driving very slow(under 10mph). It does not make the noise when not movong. I thought it best to ask here before I start ripping wheels off. Thanks, Jim

If you happened to be backing up at the time, it may have been the self adjusting mechanism that is made to adjust the brakes when they are applied and the trailer is moving backwards. Car and trucks used to be the same way before disk brakes.

Tom, I was driving forward when I heard the clicking. I am very familiar with cars and Mack trucks, as I was a mechanic for many years. I'm just not that familiar with many things on an rv. Electric brakes being one of those things. Thanks for your interest.

Could it be the magnet clicking when you energize it as you apply the brakes ?

I have the same noise on my brakes. They sound real loose and sloppy. I have checked them and found nothing wrong. Not saying they should sound that way but mine do.

You ever sit in the CG and listen to other trailers as they go by and hit the brakes? Probably the magnets, almost all of them do it. JMHO

I have/had the 'clicking' noise. it took awhile to figure it oput, but it was those big chrome center caps on the wheels! They were just a tad loose, hence the clicking as the wheel turned.
I just made a tiny crimp in the small inner flange (of the cap) and it was just enough to quiet it down.
Hope this helps ya.
Bill

That is as others have deduced... the magnets being pulled against the hub and is normal.

I spoke with a tech from Dexter, who, as many of have said, told me the clicking noise I hear when applying the brakes is the magnets working properly. I was reminded by Connie at Dexter to be sure to adjust the brakes every 3000 miles. Thanks again for all your responses. Jim
