How do you use the hamper?

If you have the hamper in the floor, do you use it for dirty clothes? I found it to be a great place to store paper towel rolls and toilet tissue. Does anyone else have any creative uses for that space. I put a clothes basket in the closet or shower for dirty clothes.

We use it for dirty clothes. Paper towels and TP extras go on the shelves in the washer/dryer closet. We had a hamper in our other unit and like the idea of a hamper.

I keep all the attachments for my central vac in there. Also have some odd and ends stuff stuck in there as well. I say feel free to use for whatever works best for you.

We have used it for dirty clothes. Having come out of a TT with little room for things like that, we found it a nice feature. But, with all the room in other areas, I can see lot of other uses for it.

Ditto to Ron and Terrie,

After 14 years of taking dirty laundry out of the shower in the previous TT, and HATING it every time, I am overjoyed to have a place to stash the dirty clothes!

Use that space however it suits your life style best!

I doubt Lorraine would allow me to use it for anything but a hamper.

We don't use it for anything. We use a mesh hamper that you can fold up in the camper. It goes in the front closet. I like the new Montana's where the basket is clipped up to the bottom of the floor. Think that is a better idea

We needed all of the under-belly storage that we could get. We moved the dirty clothes to a nice new closed hamper in the toilet area. The old hamper area is now just a reach-in for general storage. Pics of the new hamper(s) (in the restroom and bedroom) near the bottom of our web page, www.petealford.com . REALLY wished we had the space to spare to keep it in the belly. I always thought that was a wonderful idea!!

Nice! Only I don't have room in my bath for the baskets. Our "head" is much smaller than that, no way to put anything on the floor. But, your baskets sure are cute!>G>G>G>

That was my impression, too, Carol. I wish we had that much room in our 'library'. Nice hamper.

We too needed the room in our basement so I went with the mesh folding laundry baskets. We put extra Pop/Soda, Beer and bottled water down there so we can access it easier from the inside. It really helps in the winter months as it prevents these items from freezing.

Since we have a stackable washer and dryer we put the white clothes in the dryer and the darks in the washer in between washing days, they are their own hampers so to speak. When it's time to wash I flip open the collapsible baskets and transfer the laundry to each of the baskets. During the time the washer and dryer are operating I put the baskets on the floor of the shower.

I have to echo Carol's comments here and wish we had that much room in the water closet. Cheryl and Pete nice web site and your camper is beautiful. I just love those baskets too. Wish there was someplace to put them.

Patty

Keep the cat in half of ours. His suite of rooms with dry food fencepost and litter is down there.

Thanks for the nice comments!! We have a couple of the fold-up mesh laundry baskets, as well. Real bummer that we didn't have a good place in the RV for them. FYI- The baskets are a nesting set from Linens N' Things or Bed Bath and Beyond (can't remember which) for about $50. Good idea on the washer/dryer storage!

As noted before, I used to be Caveman Pete. 6 years ago, I would have NEVER believed that I'd have a website! Now that we're taking so many pictures of the RV and travel, I can't imagine not having a place to post them. This beats the heck outta trying to send a couple of dozen pics a month by email.

As fulltimers, we accumulate dirty laundry for a week or more. Putting dirty clothes where we would have to move it occasionally or frequently would get real old in a hurry. So we use the hamper area for just that, a hamper. We replaced the laundry basket with a rectangular one with a handle so we can easily lift a full hamper out of the basement from inside the coach. When we overflow the hamper to the point the floor door won't fully close we then put dirty clothes in the dryer. Laundry gets done before both hamper and dryer are full but if necessary we could also use the washer for dirty clothes. The rectangular hamper also reduces floor usage in the basement.

Drinks are stored in the upper compartment of the entry closet in our home.

Samantha, that is a clever and efficient way of sorting your clothes. We don't have a W/D but if we get one we'll adopting your method.

It's fun to read everyone's different ideas of how they use their under-the-floor clothes basket. It always amazes me how many varied uses we all have for the same item.

Gruffy, we had friends with a motor home who kept their cat's litter box in the basement with a kitty door. Sounded pretty clever, I thought.

We have the 2980RL with the same hamper arrangement, but Shari says she doesn't want anyone seeing our "dirty laundry" when I open up the storage (which seems to be often). We put the dirtys in a basket in the wardrobe. Not having the metal basket there gives a lot more room in the basement.

We have found that to be a perfect little place to hide the folding plastic 2' ladder that we carry. With both of us being vertically challenged, we need something to get up high inside the trailer. We store laundry in a folding hamper also in the front closet.

I have a pvc frame hamper with a removable bag that I keep in the front closet for dirty clothes. Pop is stored in the closet where I wish there was a washer and dryer. When you lift the floor hamper there is a garbage can that we throw all our empty pop bottles in.

With Dennis being over six feet tall sure wish we had that extra leg room in the water closet also.
