Ghost fan😳😳
Last night , my wife and I were in our Montana 3610RL when a ghost visited. During the peace and silence of a splendid sleep, our Maxxair vent fan, in the kitchen, opened (on it’s own!).
When my wife woke me and told me, I honestly thought she was having a bad dream. When I went into the kitchen, sure enough the vent was wide open.
I hand cranked it closed and within an hour the damn thing opened again!!
I finally removed the housing and unplugged the power source to the motor that drivers the lid opener.
As crazy as this sounds, has anyone had this experience with a Maxxair fan, and if so, how did you resolve it.
Thanks from a person hoping for a good nights sleep!!

Sounds as if you need a Priest and an exorcism.

Just had this occur last week. Also had to manually close the lid and the fan controls worked but no the close and open function. After speaking with manufacturer I purchased a new control board. Haven't put it in yet but they were pretty sure that was the issue. The SN on ours indicated it was possible that I had a production run unit that had known issues with the control board.

Too bad you had to purchase the board vs them replacing it as good company PR!
If you don’t mind me asking, what did the new board cost you?
Thanks PNW Fireguy

My unit was out of warranty. My rig is a 2015 so I would have been surprised (pleasantly) had they replaced it under good will. The board can be found for about $45 if you search on the web.

Haven't had a 'ghost' lift yet on a MAXXair fan(yet!) but did replace a $20 lid gearbox which is now failing again. When we had a SOB, the Fantastic Fan did the open-close-open, etc, etc thing. A call to the mfr ended up with a no charge new fan even though it was 4-5 years out of warranty. One more item to watch - oh well, part of owning an RV.
