Quest QR1000 replacement, and 12V Plug
I spent several hours messing with the Quest stereo, and was quite frustrated with the complexity and the poor sound. After reading a few notes on the forum, I ended up replacing the unit with a Koss 650watt system that was under $200 at Sears. I used the subwoofer that came with the new system (better sounding), and replaced the two rear speakers with "in-ceiling" speakers. The sound difference is substantial, and the home theater system is now much easier to use.
I was surprised that my new 3255RL did not have any 12V plug/receptacles. We do several dry-camping trips a year, and to me this is a must for charging cell phones, or a couple spotlights I use. After looking all over the 5th wheel, I found some 12 volt wiring at the bottom of the entertainment center by the winterizing pump. This wiring feeds some of the 12V lights in the upstairs and the storage area. I put the plug itself in the bottom shelf, and it seems to be working great. When I get some time I will add another one upstairs by the tv antenna booster.
Now all I need to do is run separate wires to the same area to connect a 750 watt inverter - then I will be able to run the stereo or tv without running the Honda generator!

I don't understand all the problems with Quest 2000. When we want to view a video, all we do is place the dvd in the player, and use the remote to set-up the TV to view the dvd. All speaker will work if the dvd is programmed with the proper surround sound system otherwise sound comes from the front speakers. The same is for listening to a cd or listening to a radio station. Once disconnecting from current site and moving to a new location everyone will need to do the re-programming (A real bummer ). I found it easier to just slip in cd or dvd and enjoy. The system is much better the the old VHS and/or dvd players I have at home.

Gary,
I'm not sure what the difference is between the models, but the unit that came with my 3255 was the Quest QR1000. The screen setups were very confusing, and the rear speakers were awful when in music/cd mode (they were tolerable for DVD, although kind of tinny). The swivel mounts on the rear speakers were also cracked. And the volume control was awful. When using the stereo for background music while playing cards, volume setting "1" was too loud, and "0" was of course off! Every category is now vastly improved with the unit I replaced it with.
I did a little bit of checking around on the Quest 1000, and from what I can tell it is about a $99 unit (including the speakers and subwoofer). So it's understandable it wasn't anything to brag about, although for that pricerange it was ok.
It sounds like maybe the model you have might be better, although I thought I saw a couple other postings on people having problems with them???

The tv booster is 12v. If your booster plate does not have a 12v receptacle like ours does it should be a simple matter to replace it with one that does. Just a thought.
