Dexter seal part number
Getting ready to repack the bearings, does anyone have the part number for the seals handy. After looking on the Dexter site I think they are 10-36-00 just looking for confirmation.

Thanks, the only difference I see are that yours are single lip and the ones I'm looking at are double lip(recommended for easy lube) Single lip are supposed to be ok if you don't use the easy lube feature.

Single lip will work fine for you. The "easy lube" spindles are just a marketing gimmick ... they flat don't work. You'll blow the rear seal out before you ever get grease to the outer bearing ... guaranteed! Then you get to change brake shoes on top of it all. Don't confuse these with "bearing buddies" as it's design is totally different and tends to actually work as advertised.

I also agree with Dieselguy. If I repack them the old fashioned way, I know they are done right and there are no dry spots.

Sorry I was only pointing out the difference, I've always repacked my bearings by hand even though both Monty's had EasyLube

If you have any concerns about getting the correct seal, take one to your auto parts store. They either have in stock, or in the last case with me, got overnight. Right on re "easy lube"

Ishler ... I wasn't flamming you on the EasyLube ... just wanted to point out its flaws.

I've packed bearings on farm equipment, aircraft, vehicles, etc. In my opinion there is only one way, by hand. Gimmicks come and go. However, if anyone uses the ez-lube, I'll not miss a seconds sleep. I have other things to concern myself with.
