Roof Vent Cap

I have a 2005 Montana 2955RL. The two larger circular roof vent caps have completely deteriorated. All I can find reference to are those fitting 2 1/2 inch sewer vents. These vents measure 4 1/4 inch diameter and I assume the cover is about 4 1/2 inches in diameter. Any ideas as to what these are called or where I might find replacements.

Thanks Richard

Richard, I researched this and couldn't find any that large.
This might be a design they had in 2005 and abandoned, I would contact the factory, or, a Montana dealer, give them your Model and also the Vin#. They should be able to help you out.
Good luck with it, let us know if you have any luck on it.

As DL N K said, the part number Keystone gave me is 102776. The "official" name is Roof Attic Mushroom Cap.

I just found the part number in my files, should be p/n 102776. Parts guy didn't know what I was asking for until we went outside to a new Everest and I pointed them out. He took both off the Everest and sold them to me and ordered new ones for his stock unit. That's customer service, and why I get most of my parts/supplies from them. If that's the ones you're talking about, they screw on. Give 'em a counterclockwise twist and it should spin right off. There's a bolt right in the middle.

If these are the screw on type I ordered 2 from stalkupsrv.com and just put them on today. They were $12.99 each and included the base that mounts to the roof, but I didn't use the base as mine were still in good condition. Search part number 17480AW on the web site and it should show up.
Hope this helps
Mike

I went to a local RV dealer and he couldn't locate anything like it, so I went to the bake center and a local hardware and found two aluminum cake pans the exact same size. Drilled a hole in the center and put them on with a 1/4" cap screw sealed with silicone. I think they will last longer than plastic and were $2.99 each.

Kjansen,
Thanks for posting your innovative solution. A picture or two would be very helpful. Thank you, Dennis.

speaking of roof caps
i am very uneducated as to what they are all for

there's one in the frount and rear center of roor about 1 foot from the ends????

i see others
-bedroom sink vent
-toilet vent
-kitchen sink vent
-showwer vent

and now a puzziler, i have a washer setup but no vent on roof but under the ner rubber roof there is a ~4" hole but no vent
is that right or should it be there as washer goes directly to the dishcharge and there doesn,t seem to be a vent

Mike, there are small roof vents just to vent the roof areas, the washing machine shares the vent to the bathroom sink (on my 3400RL) I don't know what the 4" vent under the roof rubber is, maybe one of our learned members can solve that question.

My understanding is they are just to ventilate the attic.
When I had my rubber roof replaced (including another layer of thin luan plywood) they were not re-installed.
From what I've seen most Fivers don't have them.

Since we don't use our Montana for more than a week at time I haven't bothered to try to re-install them/cut the roof open...

They are like a atic vent for the roof of your Monty they work very good in hot weather I dont think they help hold in the heat in the winter but they work.

mikem18--good advice to use stalkupsrv.com in Casper, WY. Ordered kits but only used caps because bases we still in good shape. Kits came promptly and I am happy with results. I have to admire the fix using cakepans--very innovative. Kits were $12.99 each and shipping was $12.99. It only costs a little more to go first class!

Thnaks again.

p.s. I understand that these vents simply allow the heat to escape from the dead air space of the ceiling.

Thats what I said, there vents for the attic. they help to remove the hot air in the space between the roof and the ceiling it helps keep the monty cool on hot days and when traveling it also removes the hot air from the attic, great idea.
