hot water heater

Want to make sure I am doing this right. When setting up I put HWH breaker on, HWH switch on ,small red light goes out when heater lights. Outside heater switch to on for electric, off for gas. Do opposite when breaking camp. Right?
Does anyone else have problems with locations of dump valves especially black tank? Is it best to dump after slides are in?
