Slide Brace

The Tech person told us when we picked up our new Big Sky 3240RL that we needed to brace the slides when traveling. Which would prevent them from moving out when going down the road. Long story short we did as he suggested, and forgot to remove them once and now have a dent in the bedroom wall from the brace. My question is - do we really need to brace the three slides while traving and does anyone else? Thanks in advance. Ron
