Texas bound!

Well we are once again on the road. We are headed for the Spring Rally in Kerrville, Texas. We got a relatively "early" start for us.. 10:30! We are now in Parker, AZ. It is 343 miles from our house to Parker. Guess where?! The Blue Water Casino of course! Already made our donation and now going to get a good nights sleep.

We met a lot of Montanas but they were all headed west and or north. We waved and flashed lights but no one replied.

If anyone is headed east from the west coast area look for us on the I-10 tomorrow morning and the I-8 in the afternoon and then back on the 10 past Casa Grande. We are trying to make it to Benson tomorrow.

Bill D. I think you said you were leaving Huntington Park tomorrow? I assume you'll be headed down I-10? Where do you plan to park your first night on the road?

Travel safely,
Dennis and Mary Kay

Thank you Charlie and Nila. It was very thoughtful of you folks to readily welcome us to Benson. Thank you for taking us to dinner and getting us up to date on some of our traveling members.

We are in the Escapees park in Benson tonight and tomorrow will head on east hoping to make it as far as somewhere south of El Paso, TX. Anyone got any ideas for somewhere to do an overnight in that area? About 30 miles south of El Paso would be about what we're looking for.

Weather was almost perfect today for traveling. We stopped at the KOFA Cafe and had breakfast. Couldn't believe we were the only ones in the place! Great service and good food. Only serious traffic we had was as expected just before and after Tucson.

Again thanks Charlie and Nila. It is so nice after being on the road all day to sit down with friends!

Travel safely,
Dennis and Mary Kay

David and Jo-Anna,
I thought you had already departed and headed north. Thought you were already north up in the Utah area! My CRS is contagious so best to keep your distance.... as a matter of fact it may be spread via this very post!

I know you folks are having a great time. Wish you were joining us at Kerrville but we'll have to catch you on down the road. Keep up the good work. Enjoy the OP area for us. It is one of our favorites!

Later,
Dennis and Mary Kay

Dennis and Jackie,
I'm so sorry we missed you! Would have loved to have hooked up with you guys. We'll try harder next time!

Small world time...... We pulled off in Deming to fuel up and take a break..... Seems as if most of the stations have closed down. So we just idled on thru town and pulled off at the Dream Catcher just because they had a nice big open space for the trailer. As I'm coming out of the trailer I look up and headed straight for us is another Monty. Turns out it was another Dennis....... Dennis, Sharon, and Jennifer! They ended up staying at a park in Deming. We may run into them again tomorrow as we both head east.

See you folks on down the road.

What a surprise. We were looking for a park to stay at and pulled over to the side to turn around and there was Dennis and Mary Kay in a vacant parking lot. So we had to stop and say HI. Glad it was just a rest stop and not having problems. See you all at the "Rally".

We made the reti from Visalia to Ridgecrest by going east out of Delano on Highway 155. Had a great drive up the western slope, green grass and wild flowers everwhere.

Coming down the east side we had a 11% downgrade for ten miles. Boy was I glad to have the exhaust brake. By the bottom I could really smell the brakes but they seemed to work just fine anyway. The rest of the way to Ridgecrest was like a walk in the park.

Stayed in the Walmart RV "park". Went to diner at the french resturant and had a great meal.

We are now in Kingman, AZ and the wind is blowing like crazy. On ward tomorrow to Gallup, NM.

See all you guys in Texas soon.

You folks better hurry up. The RPHOWARDs arrived yesterday, RLWHIT stopped by today for a visit, and we ran into two other couples today who are here for the season and who will be joining the rally. The park is full this weekend as it is spring break. I didn't realize how many people in Texas go camping during this time. I though spring break = college kids. Not so here!
