Table modify pedestal

Just wondering if anybody has modified that big pedestal(table leg). It always gets in the way when you are trying to sit in the chairs. It is such a small table and I wonder why they had to make it so big under there. I like that you can move the table top, but sure would be nice not to have that big pedestal in the way.

I agree, but I'm not sure anything can be done. I just had to move our table about a 1/2" because the screws pulled out of the old holes they were in. These should be checked regularly to make sure they are tight so the don't pull out.

I guess I prefer the center pedestal because I don't like the corner table legs. I prefer my toes possibly making contact (which never happens) because I am usually wearing shoes, than my knees making contact cuz I have some pretty knobby knees and I will find a table leg corner 50% of the time.

On the other hand I am only 5'9" and when we have guests for the other two seats I'll sit on the inside and save the outside for our taller guests, plus with the table extension we all get more room anyway.

You can consider swapping out the table. My BIL has an Everest with the corner legs so I know if Keystone can get them, they are out there. I have a feeling that the pedestal style is so thick because with all the jostling during travel the pedestal has to be of considerable size unlike table corners.

One of these days I will do the table top modification to spin the table top to allow more room for movement when in the slides are in. I wouldn't be able to do that if corner table legs were present.

If you come up with something better, please post it for the rest of us to enjoy.

We removed those screws soon after we bought ours. The table and chairs ride real good without those screws screwed into the floor in our Montana. Might not be the same in other models. The chairs seem to hold the table in place. Done this 5 years already and no problem. Thanks for your reply.

I feel the same about the corner legs. Maybe thinking that center pedestal could be reduced to a smaller size. Appreciate your reply.

Bought this leg at Lowes.


Cut a piece off pedestal leg and mounted it to the new leg. Then screwed it to the floor.


Made up a small mounting block & screwed/siliconed it to the wall. Then mounted the table to it.


Put the rest of the pedestal out with the garbage!

Looks good. We have a window where you would mount it to the wall, so need to figure how it would work. Thanks for your help and for posting the pictures.

I have a window there also. The table is mounted right below it.
