Wind whistle

Hi, has anyone heard a whistling noise coming from behind the truck when towing a 3400? It starts at around 45-50MPH.
It's happened with both my '06 2500 and now '06 dually.

I started hearing a whistling noise after I installed the CB radio antenna. I have a magnetic antenna that sits on the top back of the cab. I haven’t heard any whistling noises before that or any associated with towing the Monty.

Not me either.

What do you have that could make a whistling sound that the rest of us do not have?

We had an '05 3400 and never had any noise issues. I had a short CB antenna and that did not make any noise either. Good luck finding it. I would look for any obstruction/wind catcher from add on vent covers, antennas, levels, hitch alignment tools (tennis ball on a magnet?), etc.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll have to find it the hard way as DW loudly refused to sit in the box of the truck and look for it as I drive down the road.

No noise here either when pulling with our 3400. Guess you will just have to find some else to ride back there, keep us posted as to your findings.

Do you have a 5th wheel tail gate? That's where our whistle was coming from. Yep, started around 45-50. Drives a person crazy.

Yes I do have a 5th wheel tailgate and I don't think it's the problem, there was no whistle from our two previous fivers.

Hey Sinterior, have you found out yet what has caused the whistling noise?

Peter,
The wind can be blowing over the Montana nose cone a lot differently than it did on your other fifth wheels. Drop the tailgate and drive a bit and see if it whistles. Be careful of sharp turns.

Thanks! I never even thought of that and I'll give it a try when we move next time.
