sensor recall

I took my truck in to ford for an oil change this morning. I ask if they would check about the recall on the cps and they said yep it was on the recall. they put the grey and silver one on under warranty. part only cost them $17.00 the shop foreman said and they used to be over 200.00. the part # is F7TZ12K073B, the same part # on powerstrokeshop.com for $15.29
My truck had the black one on it and was the original that came on it. It wasnt giving any trouble but sure glad they put the new one on. So it seems that all a person with the 7.3 needs to do is take it in to your Ford dealer and ask them to check it. no need in waiting for a letter which may never come!

We took ours in earlier this week and had our cps changed also. We had never had any problems, but no need in waiting on one! It took less than 1/2 an hour. We walked in to make an appointment, and they said we can do it now. Great job Ford!

Where exactly is this part located on the engine so I can look and see which one I have?

waldo238, its located underneath, at the front of engine, on the passengers side. if it has never been changed it probably has the black one. very easy to change took the guy longer to get his socket then took to change it !!

You have one because you have a 7.3 Diesel. 6.0 motors do not the CPS. Ford should replace it free. If you other forms the ones that had to pay for a new one right now out of luck.

Yes but I believe some trucks from what I have heard might have the new one already, just don't know what year trucks have them.

The last 7.3L PSD Diesel engine was put in Fords in 2002 and maybe early 2003. This is the only engine that the CPS is used. Unless I am wrong, the recall applies to all 7.3 L engines regardless of year.

I bought a new one before the recall was in effect. Not a hard fix. Take off one wire, remove one bolt, reinstall in reverse order and reconnet the wire.

The new ones came out this year approx. April. All it takes is a 10mm socket and a screwdriver.

I don't have the URL handy now, but if you go to Ford's website and go to the recall area, you can enter your VIN number and it will tell you if your truck is on the recall list. I printed out that for mine and took it to my dealer who replaced it.
