Florida in June?

Hi All,
In all our travels we somehow never have made it to Florida. We have kicked around the idea of stopping there this year.
We leave AZ the end of May, which means we would spend the Month of June in Fla., before heading north for the rest of the summer.
Here's where we need some input. We're concerned about the heat. Now some of you may laugh being we live in the AZ Desert, but we can take the dry heat, but not big fans of humidity.
We are avid Motorcyclist and usually spend our days riding wherever we happen to be and would love to make that ride out to Key West.
We thought we'd stay in the Key Largo area and hitch up and make a run for it if a Hurricane should decide to come that way.
We just fear that June might be too late in the season to enjoy the Riding and sight seeing because of the heat and humidity.
We would sure appreciate your help from those of you that have first hand knowledge.

Who knows what it will be like (temps). My wife and daughter just came back on Monday (2-19-07). It was abnormally cold down in the Keys. Monday when they left it was in the mid 50's and they said they had some lows' in the 40's (should have been in the 80's).
What a year we're having with the weather.
There diving was great for only 2 days. They had to cancel the other 3 days for high winds and waves.
So you never know any more about what the "normal temps".

June should be a pretty good time...earlier the better. Not too hot yet and not hurricane season yet.

Depending on where you ride, aside from the heat and humidity, there are the BUGS...deer flies, mosquitoes, "no-see-em's" and other bitey critters. And, of course, the "love bugs" to obstruct windows or wind shields. Really "ramping up" in April and May. Maybe not as bad south of Key Largo..we haven't had any experience down that way.

The Atlantic hurricane season is officially from 1 June to 30 November. There is nothing magical in these dates, and hurricanes have occurred outside of these six months, but these dates were selected to encompass over 97% of tropical activity.

We've been here in May and July but not June. In my book in May it's starting to heat up and gets quite humid and July is unbearably hot and humid as is August. June can't be far behind.

ANY talk of hurricanes is reason to bail out and bail out early. Just like tourists, too darn many hurricanes head for the Keys and when they do the hiways are clogged with traffic. The gas stations are overwhelmed so always keep your fuel tank full as many folks have run out sitting in these traffic jams. Last July/August my tank was full and I had 2 full 5 gallon cans in the back.

The humidity down here is not near as bad as Houston, Texas or St. Louis, Mo. if you get hot, go to the beach or do like most Floridians, jump in the pool. No seeums gather mostly around the edge of mangroves usually on the river, love bugs twice a year, hurricanes like Glenn said June to November or whenever they feel like forming. Hurricanes are likely to be most active beginning in September. Most snowbirds head back up north at Easter, that's when the restaurants and theme parks try to cozy up to the natives, come on down and have a ball....Pete, Oh, one more thing, bring money because it is not cheap down here.
