new tow vehicle & fifth wheel modifications
Please check out this link to see what was done in order to combat the high price of gasoline. I worked for VW for 32 years and never saw anything like this. It's a hoot!!!!!!!!!!!!

Life expectancy of drip rails? - a couple of weeks. With rust, 20 minutes.
Life expectancy of VW engine with impaired airflow? a couple thousand miles.
Life expectancy of driver on long downhill? Nill VW drum brakes suck bigtime.

I was looking for another post that was on here some time back but can't find it -- as I recall, similiar concept but they used an old buick or such station wagon as the tow vehicle. Also had a little larger trailer. If anyone finds it, please post it again. Who knows what will be the next big seller .

That would certainly be an eye opener at an RV park wouldn’t it? Seems very practicable wonder why it didn’t catch on.

That was hilarious!
It wouldn't catch on because you couldn't carry passengers or cargo. Remember all the discussions on GVWR? I owned a VW a while ago. You put 4 people in there with some bits of cargo and it rode like a pig. 1 or 2 people and it was a lot of fun. But if you notice the video, that's what the second buggie was for, the other people.
Could airflow be solved with scoops? Brake problems - convert to disc? Drip rails, move to Arizona where it doesn't rain and nothing rusts. Or just use a nice, strong Porsche, lol.
It would be fun to back (or forward) the unit into a camping space if you could see.
May as well get a VW camper/bus but then you'd need a toad.
