Works on electric, not on gas.

Recently noticed that our Norcold fridge will not ignite when the shore power is disconnected. We have propane and 12v but the igniter does not 'snap'. When we're plugged in the fridge works. I've checked all the electrical connections in the back, all seem tight. Any suggestions anybody?

Thanks.

How much voltage is in the battery? It takes at least 10 volts to start it.

As Lynwood states, battery voltage and condition is very critical to ignition of the gas appliances.

Had the same problem when ours was new. Determined that the the igniter ends were off just a little bit, precluding it firing off. A slight adjustment and things have been fine since (3.5 years).

When you cut the refrigerator on can you hear the igniter, let's say snapping or popping when you are outside near the opening for the refrigerator with the door off. It should light then you should hear the burner.

The battery is brand new.
I do not hear the snapping of the spark jumping from the ends of the igniter. That's the issue, the igniter does not create the spark to ignite the gas. I do hear the gas valve snap open and closed when power is applied or removed.
This fridge worked fine since we got it in 2009. And the gas side worked fine as well. But all things fail sooner or later. I just wish it were much later

I would clean the ignitor per the manual before replacing the electronics, but could be dead control board as far as generating the high voltage for that spark. One control board part number for most newer norcold fridges...post 2006 as I remember...but you can check to make sure. Easy to replace if you do need to.

Well, I found the issue. Think that resistor got fried!
Found a new board online at RV & Auto Parts for $113 and ordered it. I should be good to go soon. I'm just glad it only affected the gas side of the refer. It still functions fine on 110 volts............

Thanks for the suggestions.
