Kitchen sink

We have a Big Sky Montana, purchased in February of this year. The left basin in the kitchen sink has developed some hairline fractures from a center point, branching out from that point. The dealer is now working with Keystone to order a new replacement under the warranty. Any idea what might have caused that? We havent used the sink hardly at all, and nothing has been dropped on it. I think it's just a defect. But, it's being replaced. It's more of an irritation to us than anything else.
