Going out to the farm tomorrow where our Monte is stored and I have a nephew that runs a tire service there and I'll get an experts opinion on the Rainier tires and post it here tomorrow night if I can!

If they are E rated ST tires I would not bother But if they are G rated 14 ply they MIGHT be worth taking a look at some folks here say if they are Chinese tires NO WAY but I run Chinese Geostar 14 ply LT G rated tires and Have had great Success with them

This is the Tredit Tire link for those tires. It doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling

Not a lot of comments on other forums about them, but the incidents reported sound like Marathons.

Sorry should have added this. This is what came on it. We just picked it up Wednesday. They are an E rated 235/80/16. Thinking about putting new made in US tires but that seems to be a challenge to find in the ST tire world.

I have spent the last month working through the tire dilemma with E's, F's & G's. I had a set of rainier's three years ago, lasted 3000 miles before the first one blew. Load range E just is not enough for our Montana's. If you read all the threads, almost all the good experiences member's have had are with G 614's and, but not as much, the Sailun 647's.
I have had Hankook's (G rated-but really F's based upon the weight) for about 15,000, but recently blew one. I am replacing them with the G 614's today. I am really tired of all the problems with our tires, and most of us don't want the hassle and time it takes to rectify the damages from blowouts.G 614's are pricey-mine are coming from Discount who had the best price ($313/tire).
Also, get a TPMS system. Best $300 you can spend.
Read a number of the opinions on this forum and I think you will come to the same conclusions since most of us have "been there; done that-lessons earned.
Happy trails and be safe.

erictm74 ... you'll run onto "Bigfoot" long before you'll find USA made ST tires that will work on your fiver.

"Bigfoot" works in my shop his name is Chris. If you are looking for a good set of ST tires they DO NOT exist. I've been a member since 04. The most frequent topic has always been tires. Not just any tires but blown ST tires. Run them at your own risk. They are going to give trouble. Don't wast your money get G914 tires.

Ok, I'm back and I talked to my nephew who owns a tireshop and he looked them up on his computer and said the only thing he could find was that they are made in China and that JAYCO is using them on their fivers also. He said none of his distributors here in Nebraska carry them so if they aren't promoting them I'd get them off ASAP and install G614s. They are expensive but well worth the money and they ARE made in the USA and that's not the town in Japan either!

Everyone is recommending G614s. But does the High Country come with wheels rated for the pressure of the G614?

Well that is an easy choice. Will check to see if rims will handle them and replace with the G614's. Thanks for all the replies.

Just bought G614's from Discount, paid $312 per tire. Best price we have seen lately.

Bill you probably don't need G614 tires on your HC. They are lighter than the Montanas by about 2000 pounds. I don't use them on my HC. My 323 RL weighs 9200 or so pounds empty with 1800 on the hitch. There is only 7200 pounds on the trailer tires and over 10000 pounds on the truck tires so I use standard LT tires on both. All weights are without any load on either the truck or the camper. My truck tires ere rated to carry over 3700 pounds each and the trailer tires are rated to carry over 3400 pounds each. Both are speed rated at aver a hundred. Even I wouldn't pull my camper at a 100 mph. Close but not a hundred LOL.

I live close to I81 exit 137 in in Va. This summer I saw 4 big fivers that had blown tires that had got off the interstate to get them fixed. How many did I miss don't know but this is one exit I pass about five times a week. All of these campers had ST tires and they all had a lot of damage done to them. If you have a large heavy fiver run ST tires at your own risk. You are playing with fire.
