Helping hand list

I mentioned this elsewhere and still think it is a good idea to have a list of those in various parts of the country who are willing to help a fellow Montana owner in an emergency or to offer advice where to stay in the area, who gives the best service, etc. Is there any way to get this going?

If you can get this idea off the ground, I would be happy to help in my area. I am located 15 miles north of Boston.

Toolmanroy,
I must apologize. I think you mentioned this concept sometime earlier and I think we responded that we would take it under advisement. We then forgot about it. I am sorry. We let it slip between the cracks.

We are actively discussing it and will let you know in a VERY SHORT time whether or not we'll proceed with the concept. It is something we definitely should consider. Thank you and again I'm sorry we did not get back to you earlier.

Glad to hear it is under consideration. Since we are in the Chicago area, many people going East/West flow across I80 and we are just a few miles off. We would be happy to help any MOC members in the area. Maybe this is something we could help through the Regional clubs.

A really good idea. We also belong to Gold Wing Road Riders Assoc and they publish a book with members name-phone #'s and what they can help with. Such as mechnical help, transportation (whether you have a trailer for a crippled motorcycle), whether you would accept phone calls (no collect calls), whether you have room for someone to park overnight, etc. It wouldn't have to be that fancy but some idea of what help we could provide would be nice.

After checking out the location of all of those that said they would help, I think we just made it across the USA. This is a great idea. Many years ago, we ended up in a strange town on a trip back from Kansas to CA with a very sick baby. We called our church group in that area and they got us to a doctor within an hour. Probably saved her life.

We are here from end of April to end of October, if you're coming through Oregon, we'll do all we can. We couldn't have made our first trip without the help of fellow Rvers. Evy and Mike Orlob - Bend area and beyond

We're also in Central Oregon and would be happy to be included on a helping hands list. Good Sam has a list of members like that and it's the first thing I checked when we had our tire incident in the middle of the Nevada desert. There weren't any members close to where we were at so I ended up contacting an RV park for information and they were very helpful. Maybe the MOC will get enough helping hands to cover more territory.
