Arctic Package

My 06 344ret has the "arctic package" but I can't find any information on what it is. Do you know the specifics?

I pick it up Thursday and can hardly wait to get it. It sure is more luxurious than my Dutchmen. Only similarity is how they hook up that they both have two axles. Other than that, nothings the same.

Craig - Welcome to the family!!!!! If you can find a MONTANA OR MOUNTAINEER brochure I think in the back few pages it will discrip the package. More insulation, double pain windows and a few other things... Makes you want to go the Alaska and try it out. Oh wait It gets cold enough here in KANSAS to try it out ha ha.

The Arctic Insulation package is a $380 option that basically beefs up the insulation. It does not include the double paned windows, they are a $1,385 option. Both previous prices are for the Montanas.

The Arctic Isulation package is probably over-hyped, it adds some reflective bubble foil insulation at the bottom of the belly and some additional roof insulation. It is useful, but, not in "arctic" conditions. It does NOT include double pane windows (or as John said above "double pain", not sure it the pun was intended, but I know some people who feel that way about them).

You should be able to see the buuble foil along the seam between the frame and the belly cover. ...and speaking of that seam, to my mind, the gaps along there largely defeat any good done by the bubble foil. If you are going out in cold, (and especially windy) weather, it would be worth putting some effort into closing up any gaps in the belly cover.

Thanks all. The rig will probably stay in Florida most of the time but extra insulation is a good thing against our heat also.

Craig - We feel the arctic insulation helps more in the heat than the colder weather. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new unit! Mike and Barb

Craig, The Arctic Insulation is one of them mandatory options and one that I wouldn't wanted to have been without this summer. As you know most of our days down here were 90 plus with humidity that was unbearable. Our heating bill was 141 bucks for the month of August. Wouldn't have wanted to see what it would have been without the Arctic package.

Artic package should be called Summer/Heat package. I figured with Artic package the floors would be warm when the furnace ran. BLAHHHH! NOT! Very disappointing.

But as Glenn and others point out, it does help considerably in the warm to hot weather.
