Here's an awesome bike rack!

A motorhome pulled in behind our site with this amazing bike rack on its back bumper. It looks like a Rubbermaid storage cabinet and seems to hold three bikes. We were discussing the fact that we could never put it on the Montana, but much to our surprise, we saw the same bike rack....on a Montana. It sure seems like it would solve a lot of storage/bike hauling problems. The brand is Komo.

I'd like something like that to carry a couple of Honda EU2000is, doesn't look like they come in different sizes though, I think the Bike carrier size is a little too large for my purposes. Hers a link to their site (French Canadian Company): KOMO

Thanks, jpbcny. I was just working on the link. It appears that it can be carried on almost any sized vehicle.

Judy, how is it hooked up under Montana?? do you have to have a hitch or something?? In my quick review of the web site, I did not see it, probably missed that part!

Carol, that's a question I had myself. On the website it shows a platform type frame that must be welded to to the RV frame. We'll have to do some investigation and ask some questions. I was so surprised to see one on a Monty.

The company that sells them in the US is only about 50 miles from home and I intend to check it out when I get back. I am also going to check with the factory when I get out there about carrying it. On one of the pictures, the second from the left on the bottom, a reddish SUV, it appears to be on a receiver hitch.

I agree it must be welded to frame as you can still see the hitch on some of the vehicles. I notice one picture shows an electric cart as well as bikes, ski, golf clubs, etc. Keep us informed on what you find.

The one that Glen saw on the Montana, with the typical underbelly inspection, is attached to two crossbars that were welded or bolted to the frame (one of each). The two bars that hold the bicycle case were then welded to these two crossbars. Hope that description is understandable.

YIKES, well, that settles that for ole Carol and Al, we will stay with the front hidden hitch and bike rack! A little (evil smirk here) over our financial comfort zone.

If that thing weighs more than 40 pounds, and they say it can carry 110 pounds, you are now over the limit that Lippert and Keystone have told us we could carry back there with out stressing the frame. I believe that limit was 150 pounds. You would need to know the weight of all that hardware and the weight of your cargo, either bikes or whatever.

Sure would keep em clean tho!

It's not for us either, Carol, for the same reason $$$$$! But it's a great concept and offers wonderful protection for the bikes. It's also eay to get the bikes out and back in. I guess because the frame is reinforced with the two crossbars, it must work for the Montana owner.
