What is a pivot head lockout? We lock our pin to the tripod when we are parked but don't lock anything when we are hooked up. In 15 years never had a problem.
Happy trails................

A pivot head lockout eliminates the side to side motion of the hitch when towing..so says the literature..

Okay - never heard that. Ours doesn't go side to side. If it did I would be very worried. When the pin is in the hitch, there is no room for it to go side to side or anywhere else.
Happy trails...................

Why buy a hitch that pivots 4 ways, forward/backward and side to side, then buy another part that converts it back into a standard 2 way, forward/backward, hitch? A bungie cord will work to stop side to side flop when unhooked and it's cheaper.

I have the Reese 16K pivot head and when disconected it does not do anything but rest on the two rubber bumpers supplied when assembled. I have had some very hard brakes, due to another on the road in front of me making it happen and that table doesn't move or bang around, as far as it moving when the trailer is conected, it's supose to pivot side to side and up and down when either a dip in the road or uneven grade.

Back when we had a Lil Rocker, it had a lockout so you could use the pivot only when you wanted to. Our Reese does not have that and I personally know of no reason to have it. Unless I'm missing something.
