FL Becomes RV-Friendly!

Yep! That's what I read in the paper this morning.

"Florida Governor Jeb Bush recently declared the state of Florida to be part of the RV Friendly Sign Program. The law is designed to help recreational vehicle users locate establishments that cater to their needs."

"The Florida friendly markers--bright yellow circles with crescent smiles under the letters RV could appear on Florida highways as early as this fall. Local businesses such as restaurants, hotels, travel destinations, attractions and gas stations will be able to place the "RV Friendly" markers under the Gas-Food-Lodging highways signs as long as they meet state requirements---including large parking spaces, entrances, exits and overhang clearances."

Facts: RV ownership has reached record levels in the US. Estimated 30 million RV "enthusiasts". On US roads today are 7.2 million RV's.

Florida is now the 3rd state, behind Louisiana and Oregon to pass this legislations. I'm not sure who in FL was originally responsible for getting this passed, but I think it's great.

Welcome to Florida...an RV Friendly state!!!

Way to go Florida! Just one more reason we winter in the Sunshine state and another for us fulltimers picking Florida as our official residence.

Now if they could just do something about them hurricanes.

And also send some of the millions of non-RVing Sno-Birds over to Texas for the winter.

Let's hope that Florida is "RV Friendly!!!" Our fiver is sitting on a storage lot at Eglin AFB, we're in NJ! Hopefully Hurricane Dennis is just as "friendly." We'll know more Tuesday/Wednesday.

Not nasty Rick, just willing to share the wealth. Remember most of these Sno-Birds are quite wealthy and it could be a economic boost for Texas. Heck we'd be willing to send some over to Arizona as well.

Ouch! That is right on the storm track isn't it? Sure hope everything is OK when you get there. Please let us know. We spent most of the day watching the storm on CNN, the eye made landfall near Fort Walton. As near as I can remember, that is very near to Eglin AFB.
