Everyone has their own routine and what works for each is best. Here is our routine. Once we get to our site, I check the electrical power with my EMS system, then we both get out and look over the site and decide where we want the wheels on the curb side of the trailer, then out comes the walkie talkies, I start backing and Cathy will tell me when to stop or how much closer to the agreed upon point we are. She constantly looks for obstacles and will warn me if getting too close. I will get out and look as many times as necessary, (no ego here when it comes to backing). We try not to use the terms left or right as this is confusing at times. We use closer and farther more often. Once we're in and relatively straight (not a big concern) we will both walk around and check slide and roof clearance before we settle in. Then she congratulates me and I bow to the watchers (just kidding about this). A hint on using walkie talkies is to press the mic button and wait a second or two before talking. Too many folks press the button and talk at the same time and there is always a delay this way.....BTW. I also put TV in 4WD before backing for the lower gear ratio and better traction.

Keep in mind I have only been doing this for 5 months so am still learning......

Once we get to our site, I check the electrical power with my EMS system," We have the same EMS system as Phil.. This is also our first check..We let the EMS cycle through all its checks a few times and insure the power is good.If the power does not check out we go no further and will change sites. We do not back into sites very often but when we do Helen usually does the backing and I am outside..It works better for us that way..seems that I can better judge when to turn from outside the camper and Helen is much better at listening than I am. We will say....back of the camper left or back of the camper right..that seems to be less confusing for both of us. Take it easy and slow is the biggest thing.

Read all the info you can get your hands on, plus what you read in here until you get tired of reading the same thing over and over. By then you know what is important and necessary to do. Most Important is "COMMON SENSE". Check twice. We do and between the two of us, we usually get it right. Enjoy and have fun.
