At the time we purchased ours Walnut Ridge in New Castle IN. they boasted being the third biggest seller or Montana Rv's. I am happy with the service there also. Payed cash and with little haggling got it at near 30% off MSRP. They are very close to Cincinnati Ohio. Here is the link to that 3400rl in there inventory. Our sales associate was Shane, nice guy.See-Ya

I bought my '03 3575RL from Chief's RV in Pasco, WA. They may be a place to check. Last week they had about 9 or 10 unites (maybe 6 models) in stock. (509) 547-1198

Ditto what Rich said on Bill Tea, and Town & Country in Clyde, OH. We are going 325 miles just to deal with him. Beat everyone else by $4K. Local dealer was bitter and a "sore loser".

Here are 2 tips - I am currently looking at quotes from around the Pacific NW (BC, WA, OR and Idaho) Have got some very competitive quotes and many saying that they 'will not lose a sale' - whatever it takes for me to buy a unit from them - I guess with the price of gas & diesel today they are getting hungry for business. I have found the best quote (if you don't mind waiting for 6-8 weeks) is to order through the dealer from the factory. It is a quick 'in & out' for the dealer as he doesn't have to sell a unit on the lot. Also if you are given a quote for a unit sitting on a lot, get the VIN number - that way you can check it and know that the dealer really does have the unit on site and is not just trying to get you in there then sell something else to you!

markwick,

Please keep us informed on how your purchase is going (or goes) as I will be doing the same this fall. We also are in the NW (W. WA) and looking hard at the 3000RK. We are looking at Tacoma RV. Have you or anyone else had any experience dealing with them?

Markwick, I see the graphics are missing from the bottom half of the nosecap on your Montana. Did you have a problem with it or did you prefer to remove them? Actually, I kind of like it.

I did remove some of the graphics - they just seemed to be a bit too busy. Also some of the side ones have started to shrink back a bit. I removed about 30% of the side graphics just using a hair dryer and cleaned it up with paint remover then waxed (I do not have a gloss finish) the front was a bit harder as the cap is gloss - I had to use a 1 sided razor blade (VEEERY carefully) and then paint remover would not touch it, had to use lacquer thinner. I was a bit worried, but no after effects at all - I just re waxed and you can't see where the graphics were. I did do this in the first year - if you try it after a couple of years you may have a problem with fading.

To 2950RKHOPEFUL - -Yes I purchased my 2955RL from LaDonna at Tacoma RV - at that time they gave me the best deal - this is the 2nd RV I have purchased in Washington and imported back to Canada.
Right now I am getting the best quote from Kruegers RV – Lewiston Idaho & Clarkston WA - but I am sure Tacoma RV will come through when push comes to shove and I am a second time buyer from them.

We purchased our 3400 from Tacoma RV. They have been great to work with. We have only had minor issues that needed attention during the warranty period, but they went out of their way to accommodate us. I would highly recommend them.

If you have a dealer with whom you would really like to do business...here's what we did. Sat down with this dealer...been to 'look' about six times, they knew us, we knew them. Told them we were ready to make the deal, but that I had an email letter at home in the computer ready to send out to three of their closest competitors, and, as much as we really wanted to do business with them, money talks, and we go with the lowest bid. We gave them the options we wanted and asked them to call when they came up with a price. I was updating my letter to the other three dealers (the DW had some 'additions' to our original list) when our preferred dealer called with a great price...told her to do it. ETA Aug on our 3400RL.

Has anyone gotten any good price quotes from any dealers in the Mid-Atlantic region? I figure to follow in your footsteps and send out emails this winter to a dozen dealers to see what bids I can get. If I don't get any responses from Mid-Atlantic dealers, I'll followup in person with the closest ones to me and see how close they are willing to come to the best bids I got from elsewhere. The only dealer within 50 miles of me has a sign up in their shop saying in effect that they only do service on units they sell. I'll try to get a bid out of them, but if they are too high, guess I'm going to have to do some traveling anytime I need warranty work.

Call Major Russell Terrel Camping Center, Terrel NC. It's on Hwy 150 off I77, the best prices in Mid Atlantic by far.

Cat320 advise is very good.We did send bids out over the country and about 4 of them were in the ballpark. We really wanted to do business with T&C Rv for many reasons and we did tell him we had some really good bids back . He beat all of them by 4K.In my opinion and we are sure it is shared by those who have some experience in selling Rv's, at 30% off MSVRP the dealer is making a fair profit. The problem is getting the correct MSVRP.I have no idea what the current MSVRP is now but if the sticker says @ 60K for a well optioned 3400 you should be able to get it for @42K. AS I remember the actual number was 31.2 % off MSVRP for our 3400 ordered in Feb of 06 and delivered in May 06 with all the new "stuff" and that included dealer prep and frieght.

Actually 31.24%

For what it is worth. In Mar 06, we purchased , without trade, cash sale, a 2006.5 new style, 3500 with every option they make, including the 2nd a/c, except the slide awnings. The MSRP was 60,450 and we bought it for 32% off. I will not disclose the actual price, but if you failed 4th grade, like myself, send me a msg and Ill tell you !

One other thing that was funny, we dealt with the owner, and she stated emphatically that she made only a 7% profit and offered to prove it. But, we believed her.

The 7% profit statement is no doubt correct after they factor in the overhead for each unit like advertising, utilities, salaries, etc. However 7% profit is a fair profit.

Terrell Camping Center 828-478-2651 ask for Major Russell, tell him Rodney Broome sent you and you need a price. He will quote you wholesale as that is how they operate is wholesale on new and will only give you wholesale on your trade. Last week while having service work done noticed 3400 for about 41K, 3500RE for 38K, 3650 for 43K, I think those are correct going off memory.
