50 Amp Surge guard Issue

Got to our campsite and plugged in the Surgeguard. Turned on the breaker and it started making awful clacking noises. Unplugged it and went to an unoccupied site and tried it again. Same thing. Is it dead? Was going to purchase a new PI 50 amp unit before the rally. Guess sooner than later.

Sounds like the contactors. The electro magnet that keeps the contactor in place and power flowing is probably weak and the contactor is opening and closing causing the clacking sound. Short answer is you cant fix it, so it will need to be replaced.

I just hardwired a PI 50 amp and am going to try and sell my portable PI ems at the rally. Asking 150.00 works great.
