Truck Dash Mess

I'm hoping some of you folks can give me some ideas of how to declutter my truck dash. I have a Garmin sitting on the dash via a bean bag dash mount, plus a Furrion observation camera monitor, a dash camera and a TPS monitor, each one suctioned to the wind shield. Do you have a better method of mounting these devices? And the bigger issue is the wiring going to each device. They are powered from a cigarette lighter (or what ever they are called now) through an adapter with additional plugs. So the wires run straight up from the console to each device. I won't be getting rid of any of these devices, I consider all essential. But hopefully there is a better system of mounting them and running the power cord to each.

Thanks in advance.

There's more than one solution but here's what I did with GPS, Rearview monitor, TPMS (different TPMS now but mounted in the same spot). I installed a 12v hub under this console so only one wire running to 12v outlet.

The mounting shape will obviously vary with the dash, but this has worked very well for 4 seasons. In the RAM it just sits nicely and never moves...nothing anchored.

These pics were taken in my 2012 RAM but it easily moved over to our current 2015 RAM.

Nope, just sits there by its own weight. It has yet to shift.

Fords have that nice flat area for a box like that. No way a box would work on GM Chevy dash.

I drew in my arrangement on the screen shot below because I don’t have a pic.
Always looking for better ideas.
A - this is my rear view camera monitor mounted on a long adjustable stick sucker mounted high on the windshield.
B - my TPMS rides and slides around behind the monitor in its rubber cradle. I need to improve this so it stays in one place.
C - this is my Garmin on a sandbag held in place by some command strip Velcro pieces.
D - I always have Apple CarPlay running google maps aerial view. Love it. Sometimes I run waze in the background because I like the warning sounds. My iPhone sits in a tray on the console down by my right leg. Everything plugs in to the console in a mess of wires. It ain’t pretty but it works.

I have a dash cam, rear view camera monitor, & TPMS display; no GPS needed. Everything is hard wired, no exposed cables or suction cups. My dash cam (Garmain 76W) mounts magnetically to a small metal disk that is stuck to the windshield. The rear view camera monitor hangs under the mirror. The TST monitor sits on the dash in the little rubber stand they provide, but I used some plastic spacers to raise it for proper viewing.

I use a couple of rubber bands to secure the Furrion camera to the rear view mirror.

My suggestion is to get rid of the Garmin and use your phone for navigation, don't use the Furion, but instead, your significant other when backing up, and all you have left is your dashcam and TST. The TST has an audio warning, so you could put it down lower by your center console, where you can glance at it. Depending on your truck, you should be able to view your navigation from your phone through the factory screen.

Thanks for the suggestions. But Garmin has a bigger screen (easier for these old eyes to read it) and I would still need someway to mount the phone and it would still need a power cord to it after the battery goes down. The Furion is an observation camera so I can see the bikes on the back and traffic behind me. If only a backup camera, you would be correct. Thanks again.

I had a rear camera. Got rid of it. It didn't really see the value.

I had thought about one, but didn't see the point.
Only thing I have is Garmain mounted with ProClip & a Idash.

I almost lost a bike a couple of years ago, so like having it to keep an eye on them. Also comes in handy when passing a vehicle to see when you are clear to move back over. I have looked at the Proclip but it looks like after mounting the Garmin it will be almost behind the gear shift lever. Also, will they work on the right side AC vent?

Don’t know if the dash configuration is the same in your 2017 but the Garmin rides on ours right under the 12v outlet in the dash. The smooth metallic surface holds the suction cup well, it doesn’t block the cup holders and the wire plugs in right there. I hate wires hanging in my view. I don’t need or want a back up camera so my set up is simple. Forward camera hard wired behind and to the right of the mirror, tpms high and immediately to the right of that. No wires needed as it will run for days on a charge and I just recharge it with a USB port in the camper when it gets low. Karen keeps track of the Garmin more so than I do, what I like about it is it calls out what lane to be in for the exits which is handy when I’m in new territory. I don’t like anything sitting on the dash so this works for me.

Too bad there isn't a tablet solution that combines all the tech into one. I bought a Garmin and I use it because of low bridges and finding RV safe routes. I thought I could use that to display the back facing camera but unfortunately the version I got is only compatible with an older version of the camera arghh. Mfgs need to start developing hardware that can be run on one tablet device.

I have the same year Super Duty as you. I use the mounting system from Bullet Point. I have the dash cam facing forward and the GPS mount on the left and the TPMS mount on the right. I don't have a rear camera but you can add a mount point to the base for it. The base is secured to the dash with screws. I don't have a solution for the wires.https://www.bulletpointmountingsolut...ord-super-duty

This setup is what I'm leaning to. I saw a video where they added a 12 receptacle under the mount, so no wires running up the dash. There is another company that makes a similar mount, I'll need to compare the two.

Thumbs up

This is what we did. Don't use the rear veiw mirror when we tow anyway, so a friend gave me his old bracket and I just velcroed the camera to the bracket. When we tow I put the camera on the mirror. When not towing I put the camera in the center console! Less clutter on the dash.
