Dish HD not available

I talked to the local Dish TV rep, the lady said it depended on where we are in town, most all get HD on local but some do not.
I am the lucky individual in the lucky spot in Amarillo that gets Butkus for HD on local stations.
Now we know.

That just sounds like so much bull ....uh.. chips. Can't believe that the signal beamed down from a satellite is going to have local holes in it. Have you tried getting the locals in HD via antenna?

They say it comes from local stations through their equipment not from the sat, I get HD on all other stations that are HD

we have experienced this same problem with HD stations. Were told it was the satelite limits.

Satellite antennas do not pick up local over the air broadcasts.

If the channels are being sent to the satellite in something other than HD, it will be re-transmitted by the satellite in the form received.

Jim, I know you know what you are talking about. I am just tired of fighting with them and getting the run-around
You can only devote so much time in dealing with them
I am done for a while, until we get to the next stop. Then I will probably try again.

I have fought with the techs at Dish so much I am starting to predict what they will do and say. The service techs are in Manila , Philippines and I think the time difference affects them. They have to go through their trouble tree from the first step and often several times. I have worked on mine so much, I am thinking of getting an 800 number and going into business. I just finished a week's worth of argument with them. Sometimes, I get lucky and get a tech that knows their business and it gets fixed.

Jim, we just did the chat with them she is now updating our software, probably throwing the book at it. Sue was on the phone for an hour.
She had us shut it off and go to standby while the software is updated, I saw a 2015 date on the current version, so doubt that is the problem
I Need you to represent me, did I say I am sick of them yet
So now we got no tv until 10:00 if it takes that long ?? She said up to 4 hrs
Probably wanted to rid herself of us.
Now I guess we have to talk to each other

No.. I am so ****** I can't see straight. I made a cut and paste, as suggested and did the on- line location update now we are 100 miles down the line, last night. The robot on the computer told Sue we would be getting the network HD stations from Albuquerque now, she fibbed.. No HD and no Albuquerque. Still Amarillo.
My wife informed me she would not spend an hr while they read off checks from their screen again.
****** I am..
Bright side of the situation, we have HD on the other stuff, we have the tiny, fuzzy network feeds.
We will probably try again

Ozz, when we were in Amarillo the local HD channels worked great. What I have found is many time the robot on the other end don't know how to send the proper hit to your receiver. When I have that problem I ask for a manager and they get it done if they speak good English.

Thanks Buddy, I will try that. Maybe someone will be awake in Bangladesh and help me.

I have had Dish for nearly 10 yrs at home and in Rig. Have had so many problems with the "techs" when I call in usually to get local channels as we move across the country. I have wasted so much time on the phone dealing with them and I have invented quite a few new names to call them.... after I hang up, of course. I have a Tailgater and they do not know what that is...unbelievable! I now use rigs antennae for locals so that solves that.

Just wanted to vent I guess. Sorry.

Send a message via MSN to grayghost03
We have been fulltiming 11 months now and have called numerous time, they have never asked about the type of equipment (tailgater, traveler, etc} just call. Verify with pin and tell them I need locals, give em the zip code, 5 minutes done. Never had an issue and we have moved several times

grayghost03, when you get the right person that is the way it works. But when I get the wrong one they ask me what type equipment, when I say hopper they tell it won't work in a RV. Then they want to know my address. Therefore what I have found is if they don't ask for the Zip code I just hank up and call back until I get a person that just asks for a zip code.
