Stained Carpet

On a 2008 3400RL can anyone tell me what kinda of flooring is under the carpet just as you walk in the door.
When traveling the refrig. opened up and spilled barbecue sauce which stained the edge of the carpet. We would like to cut that piece out.

Have you tried to clean it with a steam cleaner and a good cleaning agent?

I would try and do this before I cut any of the carpet.

I have had good luck with Spot Shot, spray carpet spot cleaner, available at Walleyworld in the cleaning aisle in the grocery area. Good luck.

I clean mine with our Hoover steam vac. Any spots and stains I spray beforehand and let them soak a few minutes. Only one stain I haven't been able to get out. That one appears to be a grease stain from under the slide out.
Last time I used it after a vacation in which our 3 grandkids and our Golden all tramped in and out in the rain and shine for 2 1/2 weeks, it was incredible how much dirt the steam vac picked up. The reservoir had about a half inch of mud in the bottom.

Last time out Miya (puppy) got GERD and the dog food has food coloring in it. Can't get it out.

Decided to trade in for a MH.

Seems like Stiles or someone used Oxy-clean to successfully remove carpet stains.

We have a Bissell Spot Bot and it came with an Oxyclean like solution. The Yellow Lab gets an upset stomach occasionally and the yellow stain didn't come out with the regular bissell fluid, but when mixed with the Bissell Oxy solution it came right out. Granted tomato based stains are hard to remove but they can be with a bit of work. We don't travel without the spotbot.. Dave

My mistake,it was Teriyaki sauce. Evidently she already has tried Oxy-clean and many other things to no success.
I thought I read posts with people saying there was linoleum under the carpeting,my wife was thinking about cutting the carpet out in front of the kitchen counter because at times water will splash in that area and just in case something spilled it would be an easy clean up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I do believe that there is lino on all the floors. Then they just put carpet over it. Of course it's been several years since I did the factory tour so this old memory could be mistaken. Perhaps if you take up the piece of metal that is holding the carpet down right at the door step you can determine if there is lino under there.

Good luck.

Dennis,on our 3400 there's no carpet at the door just linoleum. As you turn left the carpet starts but the edge is just rolled over,no metal strip.

Jack,
This may be a wild shot but I would guess that if you can pull up the bottom panel (floor) under the sink counter that you can find your answer readily. I would think you will be able to see if the linoleum is edged at the end of the counter closest to the carpeting. The panels are either tacked or stapled down if I remember correctly, the dealer had to replace one of ours because of water damage from the sink faucet. Just a thought and hopefully it helps.

What about hiring Stanley Steamer or another pro to see if they can get it out?
